My brother-in-law owns with Avalon and we originally booked our room with his through Avalon; however we found a nicer room (a one bedroom) through Interval for three hundred dollars less and switched our reservation. We did this believing that we would receive member's benefits once at the resort as we were taking another member's room. Little did we know... more

The but is only due to the floors in the rooms. I walk with a cane usually and for this reason, I am giving the room a 3. The slate floors get very slippery when any moisture comes into the room. Opening the patio door will do it or opening the outside door to come into the room. It was... more

Pros: Decent location. Small, rather quiet. Cons: Rude, unhelpful staff. Our booking specified "VIP check in", with service and a drink upon arrival. When we arrived, no one greeted us. We had to carry our bags up a full flight of stairs. When we finally got to the front desk, the person there said "Yes? Checking out?" (upon our arrival!)... more

Overall the hotel is fine, but there is something going on in the suite we stayed in because it felt like a rain forest. We know the air conditioning was working because it was cool in there, but it was so wet that the floor was slippery. When we complained they sent someone to remedy the situation, but it wasn't... more

We went on vacation with my sister and her husband. We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived at the airport. We prearranged transfers to and from the condo prior to leaving our home near Seattle. When we got their we were taken to our condo and by the time we were finished checking in we were already... more

We reviewed this hotel and had a lot of mixed reviews prior to going. I must say my wife and I were pleasantly please with the staff and accommodations. Everyone was always attentive and helpful. We originally got a two bed room and asked for a king and they were very gracious and changed us right away. The staff seems... more

This hotel could be so much more. It is marketed as a '4.5 Star All-Inclusive' but is really a 2.5 Star semi-inclusive. They would be much better off taking away the all inclusive option (note: if you book here you can choose the non-all inclusive option do so!). This could be a lovely boutique hotel offering large clean rooms to... more

We visited Cancun the last week in January. This is an excellent time to go if you want to relax, but still want to go out in the evening to a few of the bars without them being wall to wall and filled with drunk college students. I was very nervous about going to the Avalon Grand because of some... more

I read a lot of the reviews on here before I made my trip to the Avalon Grand, and I was a little nervous. I was traveling with my elderly parents, husband, and 22 month old daughter. We had the all-inclusive, whereas my parents did not. (I'll get to that later.) My parents were given a room in the main... more

My husband and I stayed at 5 hotels during our vacation. This was our first one and we stayed here one night, and actually we liked it very much. The whole hotel was kept very clean and seemed very modern and well kept. The staff was helpful also. We had the basic room which faced the lagoon and it was... more
