Stayed at JW Marriott for our honeymoon - they have a policy which they should call "all-exclusive". When we checked in on June 2, we thought we were in the movie "The Shining" - the hotel was empty - it felt eerie. We quickly found out that because of their minimal occupancy (we were told it was 8%), the main... more

Spent the week of 6/8/09 at the JW. I am a platinum member, so used points for an ocean front room. Upon arrival, I was upgraded to an oceanview presidental suite. Nice surprise after a long day traveling. We were delayed due to mechanical problems with the plane, so we missed our connection in dallas. JW provided airport transfers for... more

JW Marriott was very nice but felt like a convention center hotel rather than a relaxing beach hotel. After coming from Le Blanc for 4 nights it was depressing. The staff and service was nothing compared to Le Blanc. I was disappointed especially being a loyal Marriott customer. more

Our stay was May 9-16 , the hotel was empty - maybe 50 people at the most. According to the daily USA Today paper Cancun hotel occupancy was 10-12%. Kinda nice to have the place all to yourself, but miss having fellow travelers to socialize with. Sad for the locals. We were scheduled for Club 91 and received email, letter... more

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the JW after flying there for a conference. Context, we arrived the day before the CDC suggested that everyone stop discretionary mexican travel. The next day, the conference was cancelled due to the CDC rec, concerns about holding a conference given swine flu fears, and the fact that other countries had made... more

We loved our stay the JW Marriott Cancun from 4/24-4/27. We used points to book and upgrade to club 91. We also had to pay nightly for each child to use the Club which was $140 a night. Now since that was all we were paying(we used points) we found the Club to be a great value and option. Our... more

The hotel is very nice and deserves it's five star rating. The staff are all very helpful. Room service was prompt and excellent. The main pool is very nice and kid friendly, the infinety pool is very beautiful. However, don't pay any attention to the pictures on the Marriott website with the nice wide white sandy beach! The ocean starts... more

There is NO BEACH, it washed away. As a result, anyone who wants sun and swimming needs to use the pools and there are not enough lounges chairs. The result can only be called the 'Great Chair Wars". If you go down to the pools (there are 2 primary areas) at 8am, you will likely NOT find an unreserved lounge... more
