Traveled to Cancun for a girl's getaway with some of my friends. We chose this resort due to location and cost. Our rooms were spacious and clean. The buffet & restaurants were fine, though the quality of the alcohol/wine/beer was a bit disppointing. The pools were clean and lovely. We were happy with our overall experience. more

After 8 days at the Riu Cancun, I would recommend it only under a few caveats listed below. If you want something that is a tad bit more luxurious, then the Riu Palace next door will do but for a couple of hundreds more per person. My partner and I went here on the 5th September. We have been before about 2 years ago. Was not too disappointed but some things had not changed i.e. the Americans in the pool, shouting, screaming, drunk, smoking...... Not good. Location: for the hotel was great you a two blocks away from downtown Cancun. The hotel was spotless the employees were always cleaning. There are Five pools but I wouldn't recommend swimming in the swim up bar pool. The people who where in it never got out so you can guess where they were peeing at... The water was clear... more
