Stay 2nd thru 10th Nov 2008 Flying with Thomson was our first mistake, never again. Will definately upgrade to BA or Virgin. The welcome to the hotel was first class, a complimentary glass of bubbly and whisked to the room by a kamakazi bell boy on golf buggy. We have travelled to Mexico 7 times now and been to some of the top hotels including The Moon Palace and The Iberostar Paraiso Lindo. The El Dorado Royale - Adults Only - was excellent, although the second week was a disappointment weatherwise, but this cannot be helped unfortunately. We stayed there from Oct 27 to Nov 3, 2008. The first few days were cool during the day, but at night were cold. My wife and I stayed in a junior suite at the El Dorado and thoroughly enjoyed a very restful holiday. The general standard of the resort is very high and the restaurants excellent. We loved the El Dorado! Our honeymoon was fantastic! We stayed in room 418 an oceanfront room! You could see the ocean from our balcony, but you can’t walk off you porch to the beach! I stayed at EDR for a friend's wedding. It rained almost the entire time (NOT the resort's fault of course) but I was a little sad I didn't get to spend any time on the beach. The only swimming I did was in one of the pools at night! Anyway, here is the good and the not great: GOOD 1)... more
The rooms are not of a high standard and we didn't even manage to get a maid every day.
