Albion River Inn 12/23-26/08 We were very happy with our choice of this place a few miles south of Mendocino. In all honesty, it’s a fancy, TV-free motel, gloriously sited. Every room has an outstanding view of iconic northern California coast, but there is minimal guest service and no lobby area to hang out in. That said, our room was... more

The place has an excellent location!!! Quite beautiful views just like all around Mendocino. We spent our evening downtown Mendocino , so did not go to the Restaurant in the hotel till next day for breakfast. It was good. Front desk staff called us at 12.10 to get out of the room and i asked for extra 10 minutes. But... more

On a lark, we decided on a Thursday to drive up to Mendocino from SF the next day and my wife Googled places to stay. Not surprisingly, most of the "inns" up there have two-day minimums on the weekend, but the Albion that happened to have Friday night open in an "elegant" room for around $300 including tax. Most of... more

Just returned from a long weekend at the Albion River Inn. Stayed in room 20 and it was fantastic. Enjoyed the view, sitting on the deck enjoying the last summer sunshine, cozying up in the room with a roaring fire on the one foggy day, the food in the restaurant and the warm service. Also recommend the hiking in Van... more

The room was ok at best, and needed some updating. There were other rooms on the property that were much nicer than ours, and had I know the difference I would have upgraded without question. We stayed on the top floor of a four room building in room 11. Its not to say that they didnt try, or that the... more

Albion Bay Fog Horn Finally Tamed! This Oct 2008, the Coast Guard finally replaced the baffle on the Albion Bay fog horn so it is once again a pleasant, muffled oceanside sound, a fitting accompaniment to the ambiance of our oceann view iinn. We don't know why the Coast Guard left the baffle off the fog horn the last time...

My girlfriend and I stayed there two nights the last weekend of August while in town for a wedding. After the treachorous drive up 128 while hungover, we were pleasantly surprised by the property. Our room was very large, quite comfortable and well appointed plus the bathroom was huge; all good things. I went to the miniscule store back across... more

The foghorn blasts every 30 seconds, but not to worry--earphone are provided gratis at this "romantic" hideaway, a thoughtful surprise from management...'surprise' being the operative word, as no warning is provided on the lovely website. If a ship hits the rocks despite the earsplitting warning, a 911 call from your cellphone is impossible (no coverage here), but you'll enjoy a... more

We have stayed at the Albion River Inn about 8 times now, both in summer and winter. Having stayed in a number of hotels and inns in Napa, Carmel, San Francisco, etc., we think that there's no value comparable to the Albion. The rooms are large, quiet and tastefully decorated; most are single story and have decks looking directly on... more

The fog horn is a bummer. We like the inn and the complimentary wine in the room is very nice but can't get past the noise from the fog horn. more

We had a very nice stay at this charming property. It's located about 15 minutes south of Mendocino, perched on a dramatic bluff over the ocean and at the river's end. We loved the real wood burning fireplace and cottage-like privacy of the units (we had Unit 7, which has no-one above or below you and feels private and quiet).... more
