We had a wonderful 2-night stay at this B&B in Mendocino. The room was great (Colombard), with a little balcony and a cozy bathroom with a tub, very confy bed (and we are picky). The room and the whole inn was impecably clean and decorated in great taste (wonderful art, most of it for sale on the walls, and little... more

My husband Vladimir, Irish Setter Lancelot, and I had the most delightful stay at Auberge Mendocino last Aug 18-20, our first visit to the lovely Mendocino area. We were absolutely seduced by the intoxicating natural surroundings of the California Pacific Coast, lavish and impeccable accomodations (the Riesling Room), large spotless bathroom with fluffy soft towels and Gilbert & Soames toiletries,... more

This bed and breakfast has all the charm of a boarding house run by Charles Dickens. From the moment we arrived, the staff was barking orders like "don't lose the key!", which i guess was their way of saying welcome. Having stayed in Mendocino dozens of times over the last 30 years, it was obvious these new owners were not... more

As the owner of the business, I find this review slanderous and without substance. Statements referring to ones origin and comparing people to carpetbaggers are borderline ethnic and racial slurs. Our innkeepers have a protocol when checking-in guests which almost all guests find welcoming. We do not "bark orders" at guests. In fact, one of the things we do is...

My partner and I have stayed at many 4 and 5-star properties. I am a Human Resources Director for a hospitality firm in San Francisco...so we not only have the opportunity to stay in excellent properties, but we're also in the "know" on where a a "good" place to stay is. My partner received a $500 birthday gift certificate, for... more

Well - what a disappointment... The room was $300 and it was dirty and ugly and depressing. The breakfast was a joke - some ridiuclous burrito of some sorts and chopped-up fruit. The owner was outside when we checked out and it was rather difficult for him to muster a smile. All told - this is so not worth your... more

It is unfortunate that a guest can be so dissatisfied with an accommodation without ever addressing any issues with the owner or staff. The Champagne Suite, where this guest stayed encompasses the entire top floor of our Vintner’s Cottage building. The room is very bright and airy with many windows facing the south and a 12’ glass sliding door facing...

After much searching we booked the Little River Cottage that is a part of this B&B but down a private lane about a 100 yards away. Breathtaking views from all the rooms. Very quiet and private. 2 bed/1 bath the perfect size for a small family or close friends. Is it 5 star perfect. No. It is comfortable but has... more

This is my second review of Auberge Mendocino. The first was back in 2003 where I gave it 4 stars. We returned back there in October 2007 and stayed in the same unit, the "Chez Cremant" cottage. We like it as it's separate from the main house which gives you the privacy you like for a romantic getaway. We did... more

The Chez Cremant Cottage is one of our most popular rentals. The window coverings in question face the North making them more susceptible to mildew. We had noticed this problem but after several attempts, we were unable to properly clean the fabric on these shades. New Roman Shades have been ordered to replace those above the day bed as well...

We are a couple who stayed at the Little River Cottage in late October. We won't be coming back to this establishment, and if you'll read through the story of our experience, you'll see why. I'll leave it up to you if this affects your travel plans, but I hope this helps you make an informed choice. Like many of... more

We arrived late about 8 pm to find a note as to where ther key to our room was-no big deal. I'd noticed the charge for the room had been extracted from the account when we first made reservations. Lugging the suitcases up the stairs, we found a very stuffy hot room with only one window we could open for... more

Policies regarding check-in times and advance deposits are clearly stated on our website. We follow-up all of our reservations with an email and/or a hard copy confirmation detailing the charges and the deposit amount placed on the guest’s credit card. Our check-in times are between 3PM and 7PM. A bed and breakfast is more than just a place to sleep...

This is a pleasant Bed & Breakfast somewhat typical of Mendocino. The hosts are very pleasant and the cookies, sherry, biscotti and fresh fruit are welcoming. Rooms are clean, fresh and updated. Read the descriptions they are accurate --for example our room did not have TV or a fireplace --not important in June but in January I would probably prefer... more
