We like really fine dining, so Captain's Cove was good, but not spectacular. They had a good menu selection and a decent wine list as well as some specials. The atmosphere is nice, a good nautical theme. We sat right next to the wall separating the restaurant from the Pancho Willy's bar, so it was okay, but not great. The... more

Everyone needs to go to this place. They have excellent food and wonderful service. They are great people. We went there in 2001 while we were on our honeymoon and have went there every year since. We have had a great meal every time. Never had a bad meal or bad service. The restaurant has seating over a balcony out... more

We are at Captain's Cove for the second year in a row and the meal was mostly very good. A few dishes were relatively forgettable, but others were outstanding. The highlight of the night had to be when Panch (or was it Willy?) showed up and we could go see him hanging out just next to the balcony. I recall... more

Just ate at Captain's Cove last night (4/19/2009). We were looking for something simple - as in my daughter wanted carne asada - and remembered this place from our visit 12 years ago as being unpretentious and reasonable (at least for breakfast, which we ate there every day on our previous trip). Well, things DO change! I guess my 14-year-old... more

We love Captain's Cove and go every time we are in Cancun. The food is great, last time I had the shrimp scampi which was delicious. We always sit on the deck and watch the sunset, highly recommended! And for dessert my favorite is a Sexy Flaming Mexican Coffee. They do a whole show for you, Clemente did a fab... more

We actually went into Poncho and Willy's which is the bar off of Captain's Cove. The atmosphere here is wonderful....We had chips and salsa and calamary and drinks and watched the sun set. Then we saw the croc swim by. We would go back for sure, the sunset was breath taking. more

We loved this restaurant. Right on the lagoon, it's home to two crocodiles that swim back and forth, and, lucky for my kids, decided to stop and stay right in front of their table (table was overlooking the water - very safe so not to worry). The ribs, lobster enchilades, salmon tartare and salads were all very tasty. If we... more

The food at Captain's Cove was a standard fair. I would call it old people's food: bland and boring. The service was good, but the best part about the restaurant is the location--it is next to the laggon. The price is on the expensive side. If you are looking for typical American food in Cancun, then this is a good... more
