I love this place. It has fantastic "finer dining" Mexican food. The table side guacamole is a must, its a great way to start the meal. They ceviche is also fantastic. We usually get a seafood and a steak platter. They're pretty big and great for sharing. Each platter has a variety of meats and seafood. more

Took advantage of our EP card and got 6 meals for the price of 3. Wonderful place to eat but the live mariachi music was loud and pounding. If they, the musicians, could have toned down the volume, it would have added to rather than distracted from the atmosphere of the restaurant. The guacamole was superb. I had the mole... more

At the far end of a mall, this has better ambiance than I would have expected. Bright and open with views to the main street. Good tableside guacamole and some decent local dishes. None of our four meals were particularly flavorful. Note on kids menu item - the chicken fingers are nothing like ours were used to. Not sure what... more

We were a party of six and everyone was very happy with their meal. The ratio of our waiters to our guests was less than 2 to 1. The service was impecable. It rivaled the top restaurants in Paris. We are not familiar enough with Mexican food to rate it against other Mexican food, but it is well above a... more

I've traveled several areas of Mexico and have one pet peeve in the tourist areas - the dumbing down of traditional foods at restaurants. I am quite happy to say that Casa Maguey does not fall into that trap. We sampled 6 dishes between the two of us, and each was thoughtfully prepared with an eye to detail and authenticity.... more

Pleasant restaurant & not overpriced. Freddy, our waiter was superb & able to help with menu selections for novice Mexican travellers. The guacamole that was made at the table was outstanding- our 10yr old devoured it. The shredded venison an appetizer was exquisite. Disappointed by the fajitas as they seemed quite bland. Desserts good- I would recommend the chocolate soufflé.... more

My family went there in March 2009 based on reviews from this site and hotel concierge service. I got serious food poisoning right after stepping out of this place and spent all night vomiting. The next day I got serious diarrhea that I have to skip the rest of trip and staying in the bed, taking Imodine every hour. This... more

We arrived a bit late in Cancun and after settling in to our room asked the Concierge for a good, nearby Mexican restaurant. He recommended Casa Maguey, which was two bus stops away. It was outstanding! We liked it so much that we went back two more times! Staff was very attentive, the Guacamole, as noted in an earlier review,... more

Casa Maguey is an alright place to eat, but there are much better restaurants in Cancun. Our kids (pre-teens to 14) really liked the food and the band, but my flank steak tasted terrible, and I question whether it was even from a cow. Service was slow. For much better food go to Hacienda Sisal. more

We dined at Casa Maguey in February, 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. The menu selections were varied. The beef was tender and the seafood was fresh. The cheese volcano appetizer is a must have! The service was first class as well. more
