According to todays Por Esto newspaper, officials are keeping a close eye on current construction projects at the Moon Palace due to the new federal mangrove protection laws. It is thought that in the past that the Moon Palace and many others have done much damage to the mangroves because of lack of such laws--and because no one was watching!

I hope the government will strictly enforce the new laws in spite of pressure from big business not to do so.

I think RobertSDF has been very fair on this site. You imply that

he had bad expierence in Moon Palace, but I do not even think he ever stayed at Moon Palace, he just translated imported information

from Mexican newspaper, you for one wrote as long as the liquor is

flowing you are fine. I know in you country you could not afford to drink that much liquor, so you come to Mexico and think is all fine.

I just wonder how much you care about enviroment in your country.

From your attitude most likely not much.

Thanks, sig! You are correct, I have never stayed at the Moon Palace. And what I posted was not to just single out the Moon Palace--it matters little to me what hotel it is, only that they are breaking laws and damaging the environment. When I see another article about another hotel doing the same, I will post it!

No attitude was meant to be implied and if it seems that way then I apologise... Just seen the same report posted twice that's all... I do care very much about in the environment so much so I don't drive a motor vehicle and actually cycle my was around my town... I would hazard to guess many other hotels are as bad if not worse just like many other town, Cities and Countries within this world of ours...

As the for the booze comment you save your money hard for vactions away so you have to make the most of your chosen hotel/complex and everything to choosen destination has to offer, for much wonderful Cancun has plenty...

As I say I just wondered if Robert had an experience of something that may be worth knowing that's all sorry it has been taken in the context it has no harm was meant

Apology accepted, but if you read RobertSDF posting here, he really writes about many thinkg going on around that area. There are many things which the mainstream media won't cover, until there a

some enviromental disaster, and he keeps us informed about many

imported things happening there it that 'part of the woods'.

Well , in my opinion it too big already for my tastes but thats just me!

And I think its too late for them to leave the mangroves alone but looks like the government will put a stop to further destruction. Thats a good thing, I think!

well for the record on the mangroves etc I think your right.... But the flip side is someone must be giving planned permission to build in the first place.... we all have a responsibility for our planet whether it be cutting back on tree and plantation felling to gas emissions many countries are towing the line still a few other who choose not too...
