omni or riu palace - need help quickly!!!

we can't decide, what is the major difference in these two, location correct? but isn't the beach at the omni much better, no seaweed, waves for fun swimming and boogie boarding> we definitely want beach svc, i know the omni has it, but can't get a definite on this for the rui palace, anyone been to either of these recently?? Is the omni nice or old and average?

courtbud,

My wife and I were at the Riu Palace last May, and are going back this April. I've never been to the Omni, but the Riu was a great place to stay. The beach is very nice, and if you want some waves you can walk down about a hundred yards in fron't of the Riu Cancun and they are a lot better.

Have fun where ever you stay.

I stayed at the Omni June 06 for five or so nights. Can't say anything negative at all. Very nice hotel. Very nice service, nice location. The beach was nice but.. a little rocky compared to the trip I took to the Aqua Grand Fiesta pre Wilma in July 05. But that is nature! Not really a big deal at all. I was originally booked to stay at the CM Marriott but it was not open yet. I was rebooked to the Omni . I was worried since it was not my choice but I was very pleasantly surprised by the OMNI. Loved the waves! Beaches can change though in days. soo..

have fun. I will when I go back next month this time to the Marriott CM.. you know points count :)

I don't know anything about the Rui. sorry

Courtbud, you've done so much research, you're probably an expert from reading all the posts. Please let us know where you went and how you liked it. I would go with the Omni because of the location. Just my opinion. I personally don't like the top of the seven. Too calm for me.

Best of luck!

Spent New Years at the Omni and loved it. Killer beach, balcony, view, service, pools, on the beach jacuzzi bar. Best part is it is not really a mega mega resort. Did 2 days AI and 2 day Euro plan. Stayed one night at the Rui in PV and would not return to this chain. It was mega mega and seemed like Disney to me.

All I know is over New Years it was fantastic. Large white sand area where the staff actually jogged to fill orders.

courtbud: I stayed at the RPLA last June. Although the RPLA is nice, they do not have beach service. The RPLA is nice but no waves. I rather be on the wave side as we sayed at the Melia 2 years ago and I loved the waves on the beach and beach service. I hope the beach comes back by April.
