The Riu Caribe hotel is fantastic. I always stay there and have never been dissappointed. The beach is fantastic, the food is great and the pool is lovely. We are going to the Riu Caribe May 12 for 7 nights. Maybe we will see you there.

We just got back from the Riu Caribe at the beginning of March and loved it! We really had nothing major to complain about. Nice beach and you could go in the water at any time (waves weren't huge even when it got windy). The only thing about the beach i didn't like is that you couldn't walk past either side of the resort due to rocks. Hope this helps...

you CAN walk down the beach...we did ...but it is more like rock climbing the entire way...still fun and saw some cool stuff...

yes, you can walk along the Riu's beach...but it doesn't continue along a long stretch of beach...you definately hit rocks! I prefer long walks along the sand but I didn't get that here. Don't get me wrong...I loved the Riu and everything about it. Would go back in a second!

There both good hotels. The RIU has a better pool and the food is slightly better. The Gran Caribe is in a better location.

If your a big beach person, why don't you switch to Playa del Carmen instead? Your still only a $3.40 bus ride from Cancun...

tooloon- we are now looking at hotel in Playa, because RIU Caribe is sold out for our dates.....some of the beaches in Playa look pretty good!
