 Gran Caribe Real

Okay, I have read as much as I can about this hotel and the reviews are mixed...has anyone been there recently? A few questions:

1.Is the beach really non-existent, and if so, is there a way to use the Royal beach which I think is next door?

2.Is the hotel really full of spring breakers?Should we immediately ask to be moved to the Royal???

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

well maybe this makes me a bad person but i was just in cancun a few weeks ago and saw the GCR and The Royal...and if I had any excuse to move to The Royal...I would..haha...the place looks amazing

................................

i dont know anything about the beach at the GCR but i do think its a spring break hotel..but spring break is almost over and it still looked like a great place (from the outside)

Thanks for the response...yeah, from everything I have read, the Royal seems to be the way to go. However...my pocket book is making some of these decisions for me!

We have been home a week. The GCR hotel is nice. The beach is small, but there is beach. We spent 3 days completely on the beach, there is bar service on the beach also. Depends on what you want. The beach at the Royal is also very small, they have all of those "beds" there, and they reserve theirs. We had some friends bump to the Royal. Very nice hotel, quieter. We liked the action of the GCR, the Spring Breakers were fine during the day, but they do not sleep at night. We wanted sleep. You can ask to be upgraded to the 6th floor at the GCR, no kids up there, it is a little quieter.

I have stayed at the GCR before and would go back again. Amy

Amy,

Thanks for the info...glad to hear there is a bit of a beach anyway. Like you, I also like sleep. :) I really don't require the "top of the line" accomodations, just don't want to feel like I am surrounded by a bunch of kids and no beach to run away to! Thanks also for the 6th floor suggestion...I will definitely inquire about that.
