the sunset resorts, or omni, questions. |
|
i have recieved a 5 day 4 night hotel accomidations to any of the sunset resorts or the omni and i am confused as to which on to choose. i will need to extend my vac to a week, so i will have to pay for 3 extra nights and that concerns me as i don't want to spend a fortune. I also will be bringing my under year old son and i though all inclusive would be best as we don't have to lug him around in the evenings when it's past his bed time to go and eat. which resort do you think would be better, i would love a resort that you can sit on your patio after and not be too far from a bar so we could sit and have a few drinks while he is sleeping. do any of these fit that criteria? any other info on any of these to help make the decision easier would be great, thanks. lin |

anyone? | ||||||

I have not stayed at these resorts but do know many negative things regarding any of the Sunset Resorts from both reviews and friends. Based on that, I would definitely choose the Omni!
|
what kind of negitive things? can you help me understand. i would not choose any of these resorts but because these are the choices with travel america ( the package we recieved). We don't do time shares and have heard many negitive things about time shares peroid, and these resorts are manily timeshare by the reviews i have read. that is not of concern to me it's just the facilities and food, etc that i am curoius about as we will have a 13 month old with us and need to pick best for his needs.

I'm at the Sunset Hotel (Royal Sunset) in the lobby now. We own a timeshare here. Every year we talk with lots of satisfied owners, all or whom have agreed that if the happy owners started posting on these boards than people would quit worrying. I haven't stayed at the Omni. The Sunset has a big wide beach (getting wider--almost 15 feet wider in the past day). The staff is great. The food is actually very good (I'm doing AI for the first time and just had great sushi for lunch). The rooms are comfortable and kept immaculate. There are no patios near a bar, so that wouldn't meet your requirements. But you can get drinks in the lobby bar in the evening and take them to your room. The little refrigerator is stocked with beer, soft drinks, juice and water. The Sunset has a wonderful location. It is a short walk to the Forum shopping/restaurant area and a small flea market. If you don't want to buy a timeshare (and I'd only buy resale on the net), just refuse the welcome breakfast/lunch they offer to you. You will be refusing the timeshare sales pitch. Say no once and they will leave you alone.

I would not stay at the Sunset Lagoon. It's not on the ocean. But lots of people love it there. I haven't been there for a long, long time so I can't speak to its facilities.

thank you for the info, i appreciate it!!!! what are you paying for all inclusive? NO, we won't be doing a time share, we recieved a 5 day 4 night hotel stay with travel america from our dearlership when we got our truck. I don't think they are associated with timeshares at all. We want to do the all inclusive deal as with our son so young and going to bed early this will be so much easier then dragging him out in the evening to go for dinner and then he can still have proper naps and all. So you are very happy with the sunset royal? I just want a place that has a good selection of food at the buffet, a place that serves late night snacks and drinks and a place that isn't overly crowded and you can't get lounge chairs at the pool

You'll love the Omni. It's a beautiful resort with very nice amenities. The pools are beautiful, the restaurants are very good - you'll especially love Pina Colada - the restaurant right on the beach where you can eat with your feet in the sand. The Omni is located on the Caribbean side of the 7 (long side) about halfway down the strip. There is a beautiful beach, lots of waves and gorgeous colored water. The Omni also has an all inclusive option if you are interested in that. Of the two, I'd definitely take the Omni. Cheryl

cherylp: have you been to the royal sunset? what was they price for all inclusive at the omni, do you know? is it a busy resort? doy ou have to get up at the crack of dawn to get chairs by the pool?
|
we chose the omni, i heard its great, good food, nice beach, nice pools, etc. The food is really good but is not just an all inclusive resort, its both, therefore the food is really good, as some are paying for it. I've read good reviews on the sunset too, but we chose the omni, pina colada restaurant right on the beach and the jacuzzi bar sold me! They have beach service for food and drinks, many resorts don't have this.
