the sunset resorts, or omni, questions.

i have recieved a 5 day 4 night hotel accomidations to any of the sunset resorts or the omni and i am confused as to which on to choose. i will need to extend my vac to a week, so i will have to pay for 3 extra nights and that concerns me as i don't want to spend a fortune. I also will be bringing my under year old son and i though all inclusive would be best as we don't have to lug him around in the evenings when it's past his bed time to go and eat. which resort do you think would be better, i would love a resort that you can sit on your patio after and not be too far from a bar so we could sit and have a few drinks while he is sleeping. do any of these fit that criteria? any other info on any of these to help make the decision easier would be great, thanks. lin

so what kind of beer do they serve? and do they have baileys? so you say you have to rent the beds and umbrella's on the beach? all of them only can be rented out? that is unusal to me as all the resorts i have ever been to they don't do such a thing. why do you have to rent them and how much? other wise i guess you are stuck in the full sun all day, not my idea with a infant and i hate having to put money out for everything when i'm on a holiday that i why i like all invclusives.

"so what kind of beer do they serve? and do they have baileys? "

They have all top rated Mexican beer, and Top shelf international liquor. I remember seeing Bailey's. I can't tell you about american beer because we don't drink American beer in Mexico. We don't drink Corona, either, ever.

"so you say you have to rent the beds and umbrella's on the beach?"

The curtained beds are rentals, yes. The umbrellas / palapas, are not. There is a lot of shade around the pools and on the beach. Pictures in reviews will show you that.

"all of them only can be rented out?"

I never said that. Member cost for a covered, curtained, King sized be is $12US. I suggested the bed because your infant would have somewhere soft to lay, out of the sand, and could be completely curtained, if you wish.

"i guess you are stuck in the full sun all day, not my idea with a infant and i hate having to put money out for everything when i'm on a holiday that i why i like all invclusives."

I never said that, either. You don't put out any other money, except tips, hopefully, for the great workers there.

Never stayed at the Omni but heard only good things--the opposite being true at the Sunset hotels.

I have also never worried about American beer--too many great Mexican beers. My only worry would be if they only had Corona--I dont drink that. As I said, Mexico has GOOD beers.

oh i wasn't conserned with americian beers i love mexician beer but i lie of corse certain brands over others, i love SOL!!! so it's nice when they have selections of beers to choose from. One resorts we went to in acapulco had 3 choices and they were all bottled otherwise it was all draft at the other resorts.

sorry i never ment to make it seem like you said things that you didn't, it's just the way i read into. it is a nice thought to rent a bed so my son can nap in comfort with out having to go back to the room.

Back from Sunset. It seemed about half full for the past week, but by the time we left today it seemed totally full. Easter week is always busy.

They serve Dos Equis by the glass. Take a big insulated mug and get a nice big cold serving instead of the little plastic cups. They have Bailey's and other top shelf liquor if you ask for it.

You have to get up fairly early to get prime chairs, but there are plenty of chairs and lots of shade areas. Lots of umbrellas and a few palm trees in the pool area and lots of beach "tents" set up on the beach for shade. Those go early. But you can get up, throw a towel on the chairs and maybe a book or bottle of sunscreen and then go have a leisurely breakfast. I think leaving things for three hours is frowned on.

Like I said, there are complaints about the Sunset timeshare sales, but there are lots and lots of very happy people staying there who simply don't post things. Some even said they read tripadvisor and don't pay attention to complaints since they are looking for specifics like beach size and location.

The Sunset has a great beach and the location is hard to beat. We love having a ten minute walk to the Forum.

Sunset includes room service in the AI program. Room service is very good and includes menu items not found in the restaurants. You will have a fridge in the room stocked with bottled water, juice, sodas and beer. They also put in a bag of chips and a bag of peanuts. If you plan a day trip you can get a box lunch to take along.

I believe the Omni is a much bigger place, if that makes any difference one way or the other.

no size of resort doesn't matter at all, i just don't want to have to run down at the crack of dawn to get a chair at the pool in a shaded area for our son. did you do the room service, how was it. what kind of stuff can you get? what do you get in the box lunch? i guess you would phone down the night before and make you order.

They typically pack sannys, chips, cookie, fruit for the lunches. Also, if you want other items just ask and they will fix it up for you. I always order the day before.

Not sure what time you make it to the pool but it doesnt really seem to start getting crowded until around 9:30 or 10:00. The pool staff typically will put towels on chairs for guest when they are setting up the loungers and umbrellas around 7 a.m. and will do so for the entire time you are there. Also, if you need an extra umbrella set up they will get one for you.

I have been a member for five years and have had nothing but outstanding service from the staff here. In fact this is why we purchased to begin with, well that and the location and beach.

It is a smaller property, might not be five star but I have to say it again the service that we have received has been top notch. Just say no to the Welcome Breakfast and they will leave you to enjoy your vacation.

Which ever place you choose I am sure you will have a great Cancun vacation.

Room service at the Sunset includes all sorts of breakfast choices, lunch food and then dinner food. You can get anything from eggs mortulenos to club sandwiches to a steak. Lots of desserts to choose from.

The service at the Sunset really is outstanding. And like the previous poster said, if you don't have an umbrella near your chair just ask and they will bring one out for you.

There's also a shaded area close to the building with lots of tables set up there.
