did le blanc try to contact you at home prior to your arrival to the hotel to let you know that this was happening ? there is a review on the hotel page about le blanc doing that. maybe you can contact that person via email to see what they told them?

no, they did not contact us before we arrived. five couples in our group, nobody was contacted. and it wasn't only us ten...there were many other couples/groups affected by this. hopefully they speak up on here at some point.

I am drafting an email as we speak to Palace Resorts member services. I am embarassed to be a member after this. I usually highly recommend them and certainly can no longer do that.

Passover for 2007 is 4/2 - 4/9.. Most people book vacations from Saturdays to Saturdays. I say most. That means that we haven't even heard from those that had their ENTIRE week pulled out from under them. Perhaps they were notified in advance. Doubtful.

If they are indeed going to do this for the next 3 years as the other thread states, Passover will occur 4/19 - 4/27 in 2008. That's the week we usually go, although not to Le Blanc. All other resorts will fill up because of this. Will they even give advanced notice for 2008, or will they still take reservations and move them? We shall see.

We chose this time because it is moderately filled, but not over booked. The ramifications of this effects everyone planning a stay at all Palace Resorts in Cancun.

I am also a Palace member and to hear of this makes me mad too. I would have shown the true redneck side of my family tree if they had pulled that on me.

I can't believe that you weren't contacted prior to travleing with an explanation of what was going to happen. You should always contact ANY resort and airline just prior to departing for a vacation just to make sure that everything is still in good shape. I hope you did that. I can guarantee you that I will always contact the resort and airlines more than once prior to my departure from now on.

I experienced a cancelled flight to Venezuela several years back and nobody from either the airlines or Palace Resorts contacted me. I had booked the flight thru Palace Resorts. That one cancalled flight cost us 2 days of our vacation. I raised unmitigated HELL with Palace Resortsd for 2 months and was compensated with 2 free roundtrip airline tickets for our next trip. So, if you are persistent you should be able to get some form of satisfaction from Palace Resorts. You will probably have better luck if you are a member.

msdiver, i spoke to someone with palace reservations earlier in the week, and confirmed our reservation. someone else in our party also called, and was told the resort would be at 40% capacity during our stay, so "ocean front/view" room requests shouldn't be a problem. they lied...it's that simple.

lately, i always check-in for flights online, so there is a little less anxiety on my part about getting to the airport to find my flight cancelled...since i already have my boarding pass in hand. not to say that they can't cancel a flight like that...but having the pass in hand is a sign that it's probably going to take off.

cunaca - i'm thinking the same thing. i expect to see some more activity on the forum or actual trip reports shortly. i stand by every word i've said on this subject...but it would be nice to have someone that i don't know corroborate my story.
