Cancun Forum: cancuncheapticket.com + Travelcomm + SCAM!!

 cancuncheapticket.com + Travelcomm + SCAM!!

I received a fax at my work that looked like it was from my HR dept advertising vacation package specials for $329 per person for a 6day/5night cancun vacation.

I called the 800 number and after they assured me there were no other fees than what I was agreeing to pay at the time I went ahead and purchased the package with cancuncheapticket.com.

A full week goes by and I still hadn't received the package! They referred me to their "customer service" number who ended up being a supposedly different company named Travelcomm and they said that my package hadn't even gone out but they'd send it right out.

I googled the company Travelcomm and read all these horrible things about how they end up charging you a whole bunch of other fees for peak season travel dates. Supposedly, I had agreed on tape for the chance of these "peak season" charges. Guess what Peak Season is?!?!? Basically any month that isn't hurricane season so unless you want to be there during a hurricane you have to pay an additional $200-$600!!!

I immediately went to my bank and disputed the charges to my credit card and got a new card issued with a new card number so they can't mess with me in the future! I haven't received the package yet so I'm hoping that my credit card company will be able to deal with them and I'll get my money back for sure! Has anyone else had trouble getting their money back by just disputing it with your credit card company? Should I also send a letter of notice to cancel the contract with this company?

I sent them $350 for two people and after I sent it they tried to say that was only half of the package price. I have a reciept saying that it is good for two people and that was all inclusive. After giving me the run around for months and over 20 calls they said they would not give me a refund or allow me to use the package. They just took my money! They used to be known as travelcom and keep changing there name because of so many complaints. They are based out of florida and there are many classaction lawsuits against them. Here is there info:

Wow. I could have written your post myself. I also contacted this company (choosecancun.com) last week based on the same memo, I thought to have been sent by my spouses workplace. I agreed to purchase their travel package, with the condition that my airfare could be obtained based on what their salesperson quoted to me. They had a "taped verification" in which I responded to the question if I had been promised anything in regard to the purchase, and I responded yes, in regard to the airfare. I have since called over 10 times to reach the salesperson to book my airfare at the rate quoted (which I highly doubt will happen). The same day of purchase, I began to check travel rates with a travel agent and on websites, I realized they misrepresented the cost of travel by 2-3 times the amount quoted to me. They asked me to send back an email asking for my signature and initials, and I sent it back unsigned with my conditions promised to me written in, to state what I have agreed to. I called my credit card company today and cancelled the card, as a concern that these scammers have my credit card number and are unscrupelous is making me have trouble sleeping at night. I think in response to your post above, depending on if this is the company located out of Florida, I found a website that states there is a Florida law that you can obtain a refund if you return a travel package within 30 days. They keep telling me it is non-refundable, and are absolutely no help in trying to resolve my dispute. As far as I am concerned, if they do not honor the terms of your agreement, you should send a cancel letter or return your package if you received it, to protect your rights. I am also planning to do this, and do it right away to help you document your dispute with them. I am also hoping my credit card company will help me dispute any charges that may still come in regard to this purchase. Please let me know what steps you take, and I will try to post again if I find any additional information regarding this company. Did you sign a written confirmation receipt for your purchase? I did find another website for you to submit your complaint, it is www.junkfax.org/fax/profiles/Travelcomm.htm

Thanks, and good luck.. From Kansas

Hello All~

Just got done dealing with these jerks myself last week!

We also purchased a package deal last March through my husband's work from a junkfax ad.

Didn't realize how wicked a company they were at the time (now I do!). Made over 100 calls trying to secure a reservation for June. They did a classic "bait and switch" giving us a downgraded (from a 5 star to a 2 star)hotel.

We do have reservations that are legitimate (hotel contacted us to confirm)but we get to listen to a timeshare speach.

I figure we have only saved maybe $200 from what we would have by booking with expedia or hotwire.

My advice is BE PERSISTANT ! I have all their different phone numbers, faxes and email addresses if anyone needs them. I had to basically threaten them everyday for weeks to get our vacation. Too much frustration ~ these people need to be put out of business. Complain to all the consumer agencies on the web also for FL (I have that info too).

Good luck ~ you'll need it!

After falling prey to the same HR Fax scam, I contacted my credit card company to dispute the charges. They were of absolutely no help at all. I have resolved myself to the fact that I will, indeed, attempt to book my vacation in hopes that it won't be all that bad.

I'll take any advice, phone numbers, etc. that will help me work through the reservation process with as little pain as possible.

Thanks.

I was scammed as well and given www.lowestpricecancun.com as their website. Subsequent email from them confirmed that they are Travelcomm. I know this from searching Travelcomm on Better Business Bureau for Florida.

I'm sickened to the core.

I also had this issue with ChooseCancun/Travelcomm/I.R.R.,etc. I called a few times, spoke to different people. Remy and Mary Marshall included. Mary was NASTY and we had quite a colorful conversation. She actually told me, "I know what the script says because I wrote it and I know we are not responsible". Then she tried to book me on the trip repeatedly.

Following suit with most of the posts. I cancelled my card and the credit card company (CITI) is still investigating it. I sent an email, made a few calls, and filed complaints with the department of agriculture and consumer services in Florida, contacted the state Atty. General and sent certified mail to I.R.R., CCing the Dept of Agric. and Atty General, listing all of their aliases and citing Florida Travel Laws in my letter. I stated that since my card was billed from Orlando and the fullfillment company is in Orlando, they are bound to Florida Law, even though they claim you purchase the trip in Mexico (NOT TRUE). I recently got a letter saying they would refund my money, but nothing yet. They are supposed to contact me as well, but they have not. I am not holding my breath for the refund, so I am pursuing the credit card company option. I will keep you posted and provide the letter template if it will help anyone.

OH, I feel sick after reading these posts. I bought into this too, as soon as I paid I realized I knew nothing about this company and when I called to ask questions they gave me different names everytime and no address. I asked questions too late and this is the first info I found on lowestpricecancun.com and I have already called credit card company to file a dispute to get my money back. Im worried sick about extra costs, we paid 798 for 2 for 5 nites 6 days all inclusive.

If anyone has actually booked with this company and went on vacation PLEASE let me know how it went, in the case I cant get my money back I dont have to worry for the next 7 months! thanks

Just another GOOD reason why you should only deal with a real flesh and blood living breathing TRAVEL AGENT in your local area when booking travel.
