 cancuncheapticket.com + Travelcomm + SCAM!!

I received a fax at my work that looked like it was from my HR dept advertising vacation package specials for $329 per person for a 6day/5night cancun vacation.

I called the 800 number and after they assured me there were no other fees than what I was agreeing to pay at the time I went ahead and purchased the package with cancuncheapticket.com.

A full week goes by and I still hadn't received the package! They referred me to their "customer service" number who ended up being a supposedly different company named Travelcomm and they said that my package hadn't even gone out but they'd send it right out.

I googled the company Travelcomm and read all these horrible things about how they end up charging you a whole bunch of other fees for peak season travel dates. Supposedly, I had agreed on tape for the chance of these "peak season" charges. Guess what Peak Season is?!?!? Basically any month that isn't hurricane season so unless you want to be there during a hurricane you have to pay an additional $200-$600!!!

I immediately went to my bank and disputed the charges to my credit card and got a new card issued with a new card number so they can't mess with me in the future! I haven't received the package yet so I'm hoping that my credit card company will be able to deal with them and I'll get my money back for sure! Has anyone else had trouble getting their money back by just disputing it with your credit card company? Should I also send a letter of notice to cancel the contract with this company?

I too just received a fax with all of the same scheme as each of the previous posts had stated. But her's a twist: it was from Value Cancun and I almost lost $349. The package started off as $369 per couple, with only another $99 tax fees (each person) added at the hotel. As I spoke with them they guided me to their web site, and it showed places that we've actually seen and/or stayed near in the past.

Their website is www.valuecancun.com, but when you compare this with www.lowestpricecancun.com - they are the same web pages with even the same address, only sporting a different name at the upper left side of the page...

Plus, I cannot even find this address anywhere with Google Earth, Mapquest, or Live Earth!

My thanks to all for posting your issues here for folks like me to read and avoid any losses.

Oh, I feel so bad for all of you but yes,if it seems to good to be true it must be. I don't know how many times I called the "to be removed from this list please call...." number only to continuously get these bogus faxes. Ummmm, in todays world how many businesses actually communicate via fax? I realize there are a few but very few.

I just receive my money back from my credit card company. My credit card company did not help me at the beginning. In fact, they gave up on my case and closed it. I tried BBB and they are no help either.

It takes approx 5 months of process and I spent about $50 on stamps and certified mail, but you WILL get your money back. Just don't give up. I almost gave up too, but after reading everyone's comments, I kept on going and finally, I received my money. I normally don't put comments on this website, but without people's help, I wouldn't have gotten my money back. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THIS COMPANY IS STILL OUT THERE FOR SO LONG...

Here are the steps you have to do:

1. send 2 CERTIFIED LETTERs WITH RETURN RECEIPT (within 30 days of purchase) to:

Attn: Mary Marshall

P.O. Box 300039

Fern Park, FL 32730

or

5439 International Dr.

Orlando, FL 32819

Here is my sample of letter:

Mary,

This letter is regarding my refund in the amount of $xxx.00 that was charged to my CITI master credit card ending 3888 on 5/23/08.

According to Florida State Law "You have a right to cancel your purchase and receive a refund within 30 days of the date of purchase" after which, "the seller has 30 days from the time of receipt of your notice of cancellation to send you a full refund". (for your references, Chapter 559.933 is attached http://www.leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=Ch0559/Sec933.HTM) I have sent a written cancellation letter and the travel certificates back to Travelcomm Industries, Inc. on June 6, 08 via certified mail (usps tracking confirmation 70072680000238211595), which is within the cancellation period. Based on Florida State Law, it is unlawful for the seller to fail to honor the cancellation request if such request is made. I should receive my refund no later than July 6, 2008. However, as of today, I still have not received my refund from Travelcomm Industries, Inc.

This is a 2ndrequest I have sent to your company for my refund. If you have any questions, I can be reached at 215-xxx-xxx or by email at xxxxxxxx@gmail.com.

Thank you for your cooperation in advance.

2. Keep on sending emails to Mary@cancunreservationcenter.com

3. contact your credit card company and follow every steps they tell you.

3. fill out complains to the following organizations, they really work and will help you. BBB does nothing and gave up on my case.

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services

Division of Consumer Services

Terry Lee Rhodes Building

2005 Apalachee Parkway

Tallahassee, FL 32399-6500

and

Economic Crimes Division

Office of the Attorney General

135 W. Central Blvd., Suite 1000

Orlando, Fl 32801

Make sure you keep all copies of letters you send out. It is very long and painful, but it works on me and I hope my comments will help you.

I was just recently hooked into this scam. Sounds the same as all you have posted, however they may be scamming under a new name now, so I am posting this to further warn everyone and perhaps get the word out. I would appreciate any info or advise from anyone who has been through this scam, or if anyone knows the whereabouts of this scam company. My email is penguinrecords@comcast.net These scamers say they are only in Cancun, and after 4 calls to them I finally got this address at 2008 Ave Tulum con Vxmel Lote 19sm23 Cancun. Their website www.valuecancun.com gives you 2 pages of hotels to choose from. Please help and let me know if you have anything on them here in the USA. I have contacted an attorney on this, and will dispute on my credit card. Following is what has transpired up to today. The fax was handed to me and other co-workers by one of our Managers. We all believed it came from our airline's corporate office, allowing us to trust the "good deal". We all work for a major airline.

It is a MEMO "TO: All Corporate Employees

FROM: Human Resources Department

RE: Employee Vacation Time

REPLY TO: 1-877-207-3126"

THE BODY OF THE MEMO SAYS: "Please be advised For a limited time only we are offering to all employees access to our company vacation packages at the wholesale rate (you save nearly $3,500 per couple). These underbooked vacations are good for one year and will be made available on a first come first serve bases. Please review the vacation details if you are interested.

Destination: CAncun, Mexico and Mayan Riviera, Duration: 6 days ONLY $148pp Dates: Open dated valid for 1 YEAR, Included in package: Corporate Meal Plan - All Meals and Drinks included 24 hours a day, Free Oceanfront Resprt Upgrade, Children stay and eat for free, unlimited non motor watersports, Please contact us to reserve"

I called them Saturday Nov 22, 2008 and talked with Silvano Ranoldo employee#1964A, and he told me the tickets were good for one year, changeable up to 4 times during the year without charge, transferable, with 45 days notice of change, 2 per room. He then said there would be an additional $50 fee per ticket, which brought them up to $200.00pp. He said there "might" be some taxes the hotel may collect, however it would never go above $100.00 per ticket. He also said they would charge the gratuity, and when I reminded him it was "all inclusive" he backstepped and said no gratuity. A recorded confirmation was made, and they charged my card for 6 person package $1,194.00. I was told to call back on Sunday they would get me the 9 more I wanted for my family. They weren't there on Sunday, so I tried again on Monday Nov 24that 11:30amMST. I was told by Silvano to not talk to anyone else but Zach Thomas, the Manager for these 9 tickets. After giving Zach the info, he started throwing questionable details into the equasion of the ticket purchase. What he was telling me now began to conflict with what Silvano Ranoldo said, so I questioned his conflicting statements. Zach then backtracked quickly, and obviously told me what I wanted to hear to make the sale (I realize this now), then he put me over to the recording confirmation person. This is where it got ugly! In the middle of the confirmation, I confirmed 9 hotel ticket packages and one baby free (1 year old), and said we would only need one room for the family of 4 (2 adults, child and infant) and then one room for each other couple, to total 4 rooms (so they would not give us 5 rooms). The confirmation person studdered and put me on hold for quite a while and then Zach came back on the phone and bluntly said I could only have two rooms for all 10 people. (I assume he was only disclosing this major detail now, since we were officially being recorded for the charge. I told Zach immediately that I would never agree to only two rooms and each couple would need their own room and anything else was unacceptable, and 10 of us would absolutely not stay in two rooms. I further advised Zach that this type of unusual practice with room limits should have been disclosed prior to any deals made. He argued with me and I told him to go back through any recording and this was never disclosed. I then asked is he was only giving us two rooms for the other 6 tickets I had already purchased, and he said yes we would only have two rooms. I said again it should have been disclosed and I was cancelling the other purchase as well. He insisted I was getting such a good deal I should be happy with the two rooms only. I was smelling the scam strong, and if I am dealing with this type of untruth now, I could only imagine what was to be dealt with when we got there? He insisted that I would pay for the other six because they were already charged. I contacted my credit card company and was informed they cannot dispute it until the charge actually goes through. I am cancelling the card so they cannot scam me again, and then disputing the charge

UNBELIEVABLE... and sorry to all of you as well who are dealing with this! It makes me sick!

I rec'd the same fax sent to my company's fax machine in May 08 and I thought I purchased from my HR. The fax indicated from HR Dept and they told me they are working with my HR. They are not from Cancun, they are in FL. Follow the steps from my last comment, I recently just got my money back. It will be lots of work, just don't give up.

My attorney faxed the letter to confirm cancellation of the trip. The first salesperson I talked to, Silvano Ranoldo, actually called me tonight asking me what happened. He really seem surprised and said he was speechless when I told him what Zach, the manager had told me, and when I tried to get their address and was hung up on 4 times. Silvano admitted they are in Cancun, however their main office is in Phoenix. He wants to call me back again tomorrow... not sure why I am talking to him except to just try and get more info about the company to pass onto our state COnsumer Protection. When I called Utah Consumer Protection, they said that with anything that is a direct sale such as this, I have 3 business days to cancel without reason, so having my attorney fax the letter, confirms legal cancellation and now knowing they received it with them calling, will give me more stable facts to back me up so I can dispute the charge and get the charge dropped! I will follow up with a complaint to consumer protection, and they can go anywhere with a citation, and at least warn people. Here they usually put stuff on TV like this to warn people. Does anyone know if there are current lawsuits on this? SOme of the lawsuits posted are dated a year ago?

Keep the info coming.... Thanks

Wow... It looks like many folk read these blogs as I've been inundated with E-mails asking me more about this vacation-scam company.

I currently have sent letters to the BBB of Florida (where the charges were tagged from) and also the Mass. AG's office. Of course, I requested a refund from them first, in which their reply was "you were recorded as accepting the charges with no refund". Fortunaely, Florida laws prohibit this from occuring, for this expressed reason. The State of Florida wants to promote tourism, and is actively trying to pursue legal avenues against these vacation-scam companies that exist in roving offices that are here today, gone tomorrow.

Want to try something more positive? Have the number traced after calling them back. You'll be amazed where the calls are going.
