 cancuncheapticket.com + Travelcomm + SCAM!!

I received a fax at my work that looked like it was from my HR dept advertising vacation package specials for $329 per person for a 6day/5night cancun vacation.

I called the 800 number and after they assured me there were no other fees than what I was agreeing to pay at the time I went ahead and purchased the package with cancuncheapticket.com.

A full week goes by and I still hadn't received the package! They referred me to their "customer service" number who ended up being a supposedly different company named Travelcomm and they said that my package hadn't even gone out but they'd send it right out.

I googled the company Travelcomm and read all these horrible things about how they end up charging you a whole bunch of other fees for peak season travel dates. Supposedly, I had agreed on tape for the chance of these "peak season" charges. Guess what Peak Season is?!?!? Basically any month that isn't hurricane season so unless you want to be there during a hurricane you have to pay an additional $200-$600!!!

I immediately went to my bank and disputed the charges to my credit card and got a new card issued with a new card number so they can't mess with me in the future! I haven't received the package yet so I'm hoping that my credit card company will be able to deal with them and I'll get my money back for sure! Has anyone else had trouble getting their money back by just disputing it with your credit card company? Should I also send a letter of notice to cancel the contract with this company?

Here's more from the Office of the Attorney General of Florida:

How to Protect Yourself: Unsolicited Facsimile Transmissions

Source: Florida Attorney General's Office

Increasingly, facsimile transmissions or "FAX" transmissions are being used as another medium to advertise various goods and services. The time spent in use of your FAX line and the paper used to print incoming materials costs you money. If you have requested advertising materials be sent to your FAX number, you can expect that your FAX machine and paper be used to receive the materials. However, if unsolicited advertising materials are sent to you via your FAX machine, you may not wish that your money be spent to receive the materials. If an unsolicited advertisement is FAXED to you within the State of Florida, consider the following:

Know the Law.

Florida Statute s.365.1657(1) provides: "It is unlawful for any person to use a machine that electronically transmits facsimiles of documents through connection with a telephone network to transmit within this state unsolicited advertising material for the sale of any real property, goods or services." Florida Statute s.365.1657(1) further provides that the Attorney General may file suit to stop the person from FAXING persons advertisements without their permission and to impose monetary penalties for violations of the statute.

Assert Your Rights.

If you think that someone has sent you an unsolicited FAX advertisement, sometimes a telephone call is all it takes to correct the problem. Make sure you keep a record of the date, person contacted and subject matter of each telephone contact you have with the company. If that does not work, you may wish to contact the Attorney General at Office of the Attorney General, Economic Crimes Division, 110 SE 6th St., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33301-5000.

I will wait to hear back from you when you return from your trip. Just prepare yourself for the high pressure salespeople at the timeshare presentation. Don't give them another dime. Be careful. Stay safe!

Thanks for all the information you shared from RipoffReport. Every little informations helps even though I don't think I'll get my money back. I'll share the information I read to my husband and we'll see if we want to pursue this matter. Sounds like Dan & Peter are real jerks and I'm sure, they will get their day in court, they will get their day with God and maybe, since they F**** over a lot of people, and now that their real names & address is posted on the internet, who knows what some angry customer will do to them. I do not wish harm on anyone but I think they do need to get what they deserve. They will pay somehow, some way, someday. I will foloow their story and watch them suffer the conquences of their actions.

Thanks again. Let's keep sharing information.
