TS Felix as of this post has just been upgraded to Hurricane status and is now known as Hurricane Felix, a Category One Hurricane expected to intensify in strength in the near future.

Currently, all but one of the tracking models are showing this storm to be well south of Cancun in its projections.

As Dangers mentioned, the models have been very accurate. I just posted on the TA belize forum as there is not much traffic there and not many seem aware of where landfall is predicted.

The most realiable site in my opinion is the National Hurricane Center and they say nothing about it shifting north. I never have found Weather.com to be very accurate.

Coming off the 11 PM EDT Update; Hurricane Felix is now a rapidly intensifying major hurricane and has been confirmed by the NHC as a Category Five storm. Maximum sustained winds are near 165 MPH.

The NHC Track Model is favoring a current south movement near Central Belize and Belize City, "approximately" 325 plus miles south of Cancun sometime between Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening after the storm brushes along the coast of Honduras.

The other major models have again wavered in their projections with the NOGAPS Model tracking the storms landfall in or about the Costa Maya region of the Southern Yucatan in Mexico, the UKMet model centralizing the grouping for the central Belize area and the GFDL model tracking deep south towards Honduras.

Currently, despite its strength and intensity, Hurricane Felix's center force winds are covering a relatively small area for a Hurricane of this category, however, the storm is expected to increase in strength and size as it fuels itself off the warm waters of the Western Caribbean.

Cancun remains in a very low risk area as of this time based on the projections but the Mexican Government has asked anyone with interests in the Yucatan to continue to monitor this storm and the State of Quintana Roo's Alert status remains as "Green".

Folks, with all due respect, could we keep the BS off this thread and continue to allow it as an informational based thread. There's numerous threads available for the other stuff.

Thanks in advance. ;-)
