TS Felix as of this post has just been upgraded to Hurricane status and is now known as Hurricane Felix, a Category One Hurricane expected to intensify in strength in the near future.

Currently, all but one of the tracking models are showing this storm to be well south of Cancun in its projections.

Hi Jonathan

I just hope that everything will be ok, as my daughter is travelling down from Derby tomorrow night to catch the flight, and we are only going for a week, so would hate to have delays etc.

I will give Thomson’s a ring in the morning to make sure the flight is going out. Going to keep my fingers crossed.

Hi Sue.

I'm only going for a week too so really could do without any delays. I reckon we'll miss the worse of it flying into Cancun as the hurricane seems to be heading more towards Belize.

On a different note though, do you know of any inexpensive places to leave the car for a week near Cardiff airport? There usually seem to be umpteen places offering shuttle services and car parking which are a lot cheaper than the airport itself, but it's been a while since I've flown from Cardiff so am not sure where to start.

Thanks!

Jonathan

Don't worry too much, latest predictions don't show Cancun as having a serious problem.

If you keep an eye on Thomsons Website they will put an information banner across the top of the home page if they have to start changing flights. This will detail any flights affected.

It was quite good when Hurricane Dean flew by.

They cancelled some flights and diverted others to pick holiday makers up from Cancun and move them to Florida before the Hurricane hit, within a couple of days they altered the banner to confirm that their properties would be OK and when flights would resume.

According to the latest it would appear that Felix is now project to make landfall further south on the Nicaragua – Honduras Border and Cancun has been taken out of the cone of possibility.

I had never thought the Cancun and Cozumel area to be in much danger and the latest from the National Hurricane Service seems to confirm that. Currently Honduras is on a hurricane watch with the hurricane now headed almost directly toward them. Belize may still be in danger but, it appears , little effect here.

Hi Jonathan

I am in work and have spent most of the day with the weather channel on, and looking on the net for more news. Have had 3 cancellations over the years because of hurricanes, should really change the time of year that I go, but it was the only week that my daughter could get off with her work./

As for parking in Cardiff airport, I am having the shuttle bus up from Baglan, I know there is somewhere in Cardiff that does parking and takes you to the airport, will ask around for you.

Thanks everyone on this site for giving us information on the hurricane, and starting to put my mind at ease.
