As the topic says unfortuantely I will not be able to go to Cancun this year as my husband has recently lost his job so that means no vactation for us. So I have had to cancel it. All I can say a big thank you to our british banks and goverment for putting this Country in recession.

Just wanted to say how upset I am as I have been going to Cancun for the last 4 years and now I cannot go is making me wanting to go even more. Any tips or ideas of getting the money. Thought of robbing a bank put the idea of prison has put me right off

Well, the first two things that come to mind is for your husband to become a bank executive or government official.

Really sorry about the job loss. Don't think of it as you can't go, think of it as you're just postponing the trip. When do you typically go and where did you plan to stay? You'll get there, just might be a little longer than you'd hoped. Again, sorry. If it makes you feel any better, which I can't imagine why it would, the U.S. is equally miserable. I rely on state contracts - California is broke, husband's number one client recently died - there went half his income, brother relocated across the country last year with his family for his job and got laid off last week. So life at home sucks, but we'd already booked/paid for a trip in March, and I'm going. For one week I will worry about nothing....oh, maybe whether I'm getting too much sun. Staying AI. Realized we probably won't be leaving the resort at all - unless it's something free. Good luck, and hope you make it to Mexico soon!

P.S. Not so sure the UGG outlet is your best bet, as previously posted. (That was hysterical.)

i can so totally sympathize with you. i lost my job in october 08. still not working. i had put a deposit on a trip to grand sirenis in april.

i am resigned to the fact that i may have to cancel the trip. i cant imagine starting a new job where they would let me take off 10 days almost immediately. even if they let me take the time in june that would work. as i had planned to retire at the end of this year this trip - grand sirenis - would likely be my last vacation ever......

i hope things work out for you.

I saw a news story yesterday about a guy who lost his job and is now renting himself on Craigslist. It's billed as "rent a husband." Get your minds out of the gutter--it's none of that. One older lady hired him to drive her to her doctor's appointments. Others have gotten him to do household chores. His wife said he has been staying extremely busy. In fact, she put him up to it when she got tired of having him hang around the house.

Want to say thanks for all the tips and advice. Rent a husband sounds like a jolly good idea might have to look in to that one.

Again Thank you for taking the time for replying to my thread.
