We couldn't go last year, due to my DH having a bad year. We made it a priority to go this year, although we probably shouldn't. We are cutting back everywhere else that we can.

I know how upsetting it is - I was upset last year. I do hope that good things happen for you - and you will get to go soon.

Go down to your local RBS, HBOS, etc and ask for your £2k that the government kindly invested for you.

Sorry to hear about your lost vacation. We had to miss Cancun a few years ago and it drove us nuts all year. Going this year but will scale back our expenses some as sales have not been as good as in the past. To the person who suggested "the worlds oldest profession". That is wrong - she had to sell it first. BTW, didn't the movie and play The Full Monty come out of England? No, lets not go there. Next time it gets above freezing in your area, just go sit out in a lawn chair in the back yard and sip a cold one and pretend you are in Cancun. Once again, sorry to hear about the bad luck.

I can sympathize not going to Cancun, last year we passed on our trip since we were building a new home. We were hoping we would be able to return in 09, but with things looking like they do, it might not work out for us to travel there this year. I can understand how you feel, our circumstances are different but it is all the same when you have to give up something you enjoy as much as visiting Cancun.

Hie thee to the closest romantic hotel for a night or two. Enjoy the pool, spa and a nice dinner. Get a bottle and watch movies.

Not the same of course, but treat yourselves for dealing with the bad news as best as you can.

I know the feeling too. We could not afford to go last year, and it was so disappointing.

Take a look around your house, and see what you can sell on ebay...you'd be surprised at what people will pay money for!
