Why,yes I do have many questions! We are thinking about RPLA vs Moon Palace for Dec or Jan. What I am looking for - nice big clean beach, calm waters, swim up bar, good bang for the buck. RPLA fall into any of those catagories? Have read some mixed reviews, and the internet pics does not do it justice. Your experience?

The beach at Moon Palace is not very good. Lots of sea weed.Go on Orbitz an compare the prices for each.
boxersrock..."nice big clean beach, calm waters, swim up bar, good bang for the buck." I have been to Riu Palace twice and going again this September. Riu Palace is all the things that you mentioned, with the exception, perhaps, of "Big" beach. The beach is gorgeous with powdery white sand that stays cool on your feet, groomed daily by the hotel staff and little to no seagrass. It's a nice size...I wouldn't call it BIG, but compared to some hotel beaches, I guess it could be called BIG, as many hotels have none. It depends upon what you are looking for...I have never felt crowded on that beach, but I travel in September when the occupancy is lower.
I am going on 22nd July for our honey moon,
Does the hotel have Wifi?
What label vodka does it stock?
Important questions first lol, if i think of anymore i will pop back
Thanks in advance
So happy to be able to hear from recent visitor to the Riu Palace! This is one of our choices for a last minute package leaving Saturday, July 11- Tuesday, July 14. DH is overworked and needs some fun and relaxation. So appreciate if you please give us some details on the following:
your room: bed comfy? view?,
the pool: good service, chairs available?
beach: is there a beach area, is it swimmable?
the food: husband loves cerviche, fresh guacamole, fish tacos, enchiladas, are these available? service? do we have to have ressies?
Appreciate any tips you can offer as well:)
Many many thanks!

I just booked for July 15th. Hotel said they are at 90% capacity now. Is that true? I'm concerned w beach and shading. I saw a post somewhere saying there is NO shade at beach. No palm trees? No huts?
ALso, how was food and making reservations for the restaurants?
I'm nervous about the whole booking. 1st time to cancun and I was overwhelmed w all the choices.
First off...For all those hesitating..DONT... I can assure you, you will not be disappointed, based on the questions you have asked.
The Food: better than a lot of ALL-Inclusives...steak is available for dinner every night if you want it, and lunch. Not to mention GREAT guacamole and many other dishes. We enjoyed all of the speciality places and never had a problem with reservations.
The beach: very swimmable, more so then any other place I have stayed in Cancun. The sand is perfect, if you want an umbrella the staff will glady bring you one to the beach. Or if you walk to the right of the main beach the beach in front of the RIU Cancun has lots of umbrellas, you will have no problem getting one.
I did not pay a lot of attention to the vokda brands,.. I know they have bacardi and such.
WIFI is free in the lobby if you bring a laptop, they also have a business room where you can use the desktops for like $3 for 15 minutes.
the beds were comfy, not the top top of the line. But after drinking and being in the sun all day we always slept well.
Rooms are cleaned very well, and staff will accomodate you with anything you need...just ask. seriously.
I am a big time review reader and love the forums to get info. I was not disappointed at all in this resort.
I even expected to be overwhelmed with the smell, and wasn't at all. There is a slight smell but its very mild and you find it at all resorts directly on the beach.
I asked a question earlier about the restrictions (or lack there of) for being on the beach at night...I am going 7/10-7/16 and would love to relax on the beach at night. Also, when do the pools close?
alishadhs...the pools close in the very early evening...around 7 if I remember right. They super-chlorinate the pools every evening so they are fresh and clean for the next morning.
What about the beach at night?
