this is our favortie palce i will be staying 7th time in aug. the rooms are simple not fancy, very clean. there is no mini fridge. shampoo blow dryer all that stuff. the main pool is the party pool a blast. great pool bar. they have a quiet pool and a childrens pool. i don't recommend taking kids under 13 to the main pool. the snack bar food at the pool is good wings burgers hotdogs sala chips. the sit down resturants are pretty good marco polo's and vento is our favorite on the caribe side. breakfast is the best. if you don't like dinner go to another they have like 7 places to eat. we sat down took a bite went yuk.. and went to another. ocean or lagoon view are not bad. the service is great and they are super clean there. lots of steps. they have entertainment in the lobby at night. i think there bars close at 1am. hope you enjoy anything else just ask. the beach is very nice, but waves can be ruff somedays.

We had the good fortune to stay at the Royal Solaris June 18-25 on our first visit to Cancun and I echo Esther's statements.

When you go, remember you paid for three star accommodations so don't go expecting top of the line.

Having said that, I would recommend this resort whole heartedly to friends who are laid-back, beach-loving, friendly energetic, and a bit adventuresome when it comes to food.

I would not recommend it to friends who are super-critical and want everything to be "like home."

Breakfast buffet opens at 6:30 and the fruit and juice choices are extensive. Look around as there are various stations where chefs are making waffles, pancakes, omelets. Really, no one should ever complain about breakfast. Rosamarinus was the lunch buffet (but the ala carte restaurant may be open at the Caribe Tower). There is quite a variety and the main course changes every day. Had my first shrimp fajitas there and there was always a good fish item. Be daring and mix it up. At the end of the buffet is a whole selection of salsas, sauces, guacamole and fresh chips. Try them all! Esther has already described the snack bar.

When we were there, the ala carte restaurant shifted nightly from Marco Polo to Beneto. We never had a bad meal and we all ordered something from each course. Presentation was delightful, and we always felt just right at the end of a leisurely dinner.

As non-party people we enjoyed the quiet of the Caribe pool, and we spent lots of time in the sea, which is simply the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. Truly.

We tipped well but I had the strong feeling that the wait staff would have been every bit as gracious had we not. I have never had such wonderful, amiable service anywhere else in the world.

The Royal Solaris is a warm, clean, friendly, comfortable resort. Relax and enjoy yourself. Unless I miss my guess, you will leave some part of your heart there.

My husband and I stayed there last August and had a great time. So much so, that I am taking my daughter to celebrate her college graduation there July 13-20. My son and his friend are coming. I am so excited.

The Royal Solaris is great. There are a lot of stairs which was hard with my husband last time as he had a broken leg, but he is a trooper. I love the pools and the food. The waiters come around the pool all day asking for your drink order.

It is very relaxing and fun. Oh and don't forget to go to the nightly shows. They are cheesy but fun.

I'll be going to Royal Solaris 10-15- I noticed that a few people leaving reviews on the resort said the other "hotel" was closed because there weren't enough people so only one side was open, which meant less options for restaurants. Anyone that has been there recently please confirm either way. Thanks

I have stayed here 6 times and recommend it to anyone staying in Cancun. The facilities are clean and the food is good. Have stayed on both sides the Caribe and Royal and each are nice. As stated in an earlier post if you are expecting 5 star facilities with white glove service this is not the place, just clean facilities with good food and very helpful, friendly staff. I will be down in Cancun in late July but we are staying at our 2nd best place the Riu Cancun. Have fun and enjoy, and if you are like the majority of us you will fall in love with Cancun and make it a yearly trip this will be #15 for my family.
