I have not gone on their tour, but here's some food for thought:
Just looking on a map, Isla Holbox is not exactly a quick hop skip and a jump from Cancun, Playa Del Carmen or the Riviera Maya. Unless you don't mind spending several hours traveling to and from the tour site, and spending what will amount to a whole day to do the tour, you should consider taking one that leaves from Cancun's Puerto Juarez. The swim with whale sharks tour from Cancun only takes a half day at the most. You can also find local Cancun companies that offer free transportation from Cancun, low cost from the Playa area, tours of coral reefs plus additional extras, no fee rescheduling, cancellation and 100% money back guarantees.
I recommend that unless you don't mind spending an entire day to do this tour on Isla Holbox, you should consider another, more local Cancun based company.

There have been a number of recent dicussion threads on this subject that can be found at this 'search':
Thanks for the info. Actually I think I might go to Isla Mujeres to get a tour from there. From Cancun the costs seems to be from $185 to $195pp. From Isla it ranges around $120. I might have to take the 1st ferry to there at 6:30 in the am to do this. Any input on this would be great.
Doggrommer (I meant to tell you that's a great name, I love dogs!).
I don't know about you, but getting up to catch the earliest ferry to Isla Mujeres, or trekking over to Isla Holbox presents a similar dilemma that is only half the problem. The challenge is dragging yourself all the way back to your resort after the tour is over. I don't know about you but after doing an active tour like that, on top of all the travel you have to do on your own, I'd need a few more days added onto my vacation just to recover.

Eric, while getting up early to get to Isla Mujeres can be daunting. It is not really not that hard. The whale shark experience is one that is worth the effort.
Getting back to my hotel was easy.
If you have used any of the folks going out of Puerto Juarez I believe, please provide a website. Options are good but getting to Isla Mujeres is hardly the effort involved in getting to Isla Holbox.
The getting up early was never a problem for me--I enjoy it. I often opt for the 5AM ferry when I leave Cozumel. But I know some are not early risers.
Swimming with whale sharks is a rewarding experience, and I love taking trips to Isla Mujeres, don't take what I'm saying the wrong way.
My answer regarding similar topics has always been the same. I have recommended many times when asked about renting a car in order to save money to see Chichen Itza on one's own, spend the extra money and take an organized tour.
For me, it's about convenience and relaxation when on vacation. This is why I recommend taking a swim with whale sharks tour from Puerto Juarez to those who are staying in Cancun and Playa Del Carmen.

Well, after much research I've decided to go to Isla Mujeres. There are 2 tour operators that I'm trying to decide upon. One is Searious Diving with Ramon, but with him you need to pay a day before, which is really not possible for us to do since we are not staying on Isla. But I have heard a lot of good things about this guy. I will email him about this. The other is Ceviche Tours which from reading their website they sound pretty good plus I can pay the balance the day of the tour. Does anyone know anything about Ceviche Tours?
P.S. Glad you like my name...that's what I do for a living and just love my job. Wouldn't do anything else!
