Has anyone out there stayed at the Park Royal Piramides Cancun? If so, how was it?
We stayed there May 2004. I hated it the worst food I ever had. They changed management before so maybe it has gotten better. The drinks were fine though. They have a great mall across the street. I would never ever recommend it though. We are going back in Dec. and staying somewhere else.
Thank you! Did you try all the restarants including the Italian? Was it lousy "bad flavour" or lousy "need the emergency room"? My husband and I won a free one week AI stay there. We thought it would be a nice touch to bring our daughters with us as we didn't have to pay for our part of the trip. Now I'm quite concerned, are we eating out every night?
Hi maryseb....I stayed there and thought the over all place was good enough to go back again. The food was an average buffet but the Italian resturant was excellent. You must make a reservation.
The pool has a great swim up bar. Not sure what the beach looks like after the hurricane.
The rooms are nice and the place is very clean.
We also had a good time with the staff.
I'd give it a thumbs up!!!!
I have read almost all of the reviews on Trip Advisors for many of the Cancun hotels. Based on the comments on food and bed comfort, I felt this hotel was the best for the price you pay. You may like the food- everyone's tastes are different. My husband and I are going to the Park Royal on Oct. 31. I am sure that our stay will be a good one. We don't have high expectatons when we save a lot of money. If you want to pay a lot more, you could find better hotels- but every hotel has negative reviews.
The Italian restaurant was pretty good. Kids are not allowed though. If you get the trip for free it would be worth it. I have a picky family that will not eat weird things that they serve on the buffet. The staff was nice just bad food in my opinion.
Thanks everyone, that really helps!
i have only spent the day at the hotel and have not stayed in the rooms. i have seen all the room categories, however. i think the property is lovely, the rooms are nice, and the staff is great. very outgoing for the most part.
the food at the buffet restaurant is average....some really yummy things and some very bland things. you won't starve though. they have a hot dog/hamburger stand (i think they have pizza too!) near the pool and there is always a line there. the food over there is pretty good. i've always had to leave before the italian restaurant opens, but ive heard its very good.
the pools are great and ive rarely had trouble finding a lounge chair. the beach at park royal is one of the nicest in cancun...even after hurricane emily.
Make sure you take an alarm clock there is no clock in the room. This drove me insane since I did not bring a watch
There are some goods and some bads to the place. It's good for the money you spend. Food is average, but not great. Pool is spacious, beach is wonderful, drinks and service can't be beat.
I just returned from Cancun and stayed at the Park Royal. This was the first time I took my daughter and her family along to Cancun. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The beach was fantastic, rooms nice, staff very friendly and helpful. The buffet food is average, not great, but not bad for buffet food. The Italian restaurant was wonderful. I have stayed at alot of 5 start resorts in Cancun and I have to say for the price, the Park Royal was an excellent value. Spoke to people staying at the Moon Palace and they said the beach was horrible there and filled with jelly fish and seaweed all week. The beach at the Park Royal was crystal clear! Have a great time!
