The Omni is not a spring break hotel, thank goodness. It is, however, a beautiful property with a good staff and great food. They have an AI option you can purchase. On the AI you can get all your meals ala carte if you wish. They are situated on a great stretch of beach with a Jacuzzi bar right on the beach! It has been under reconstruction since the hurricane, but I believe it is now open as is the Pina Colada, the restaurant right on the beach. A great way to start the day is by eating breakfast there and looking out over the beautiful turquoise waters. They also have a fun activities staff. In case you can't tell, the Omni is probably my favorite hotel in all of Cancun with Crown Paradise Club and Cancun Palace running a close second and third.

As a fellow Chicago traveler, I can tell you that the Omni is a great place to take teens. The place is a remarkable value, very well organized and maintained, and superbly situated. The latter is key to teenage contentment, because all manner of social life starts and ends on the beach, and it is very easy for teens to merge into the action on the beaches in front of neighboring properties. The only anti-teen element of the Omni is the pool complex, which is the new standard 3-foot water depth to comply with liability requirements; the nearby hotels, however, have deeper depths and access is very easy. We did the 3-floor villas at the Omni, which provide direct access to the beach and pool, and were very affordable. The staff was uniformly kind, considerate, welcoming and attentive. Did not do the AI thing, only because we only did breakfast at the Omni, not enough drinking (lamentable on several levels) and ventured out for all meals. That's not to say the food program at the Omni suffers, it's just that we wanted to spend the day at the property doing pool/beach life and the nights as a family venturing out. We would return to the Omni in an instant, albeit that's not hard to say with 8" of snow on the ground.

what is the 3-floor villa, is it the one that has two or three bedrooms with a livingroom and diningroom with a kitchen. is it very pricey.

I think the villas can be a bit pricey depending on ywhat your budget is. We have stayed in them before - 3 couples. Splitting the price 3 ways made it more affordable. They are very nice. Living area, dining area, kitchen, 1/2 bath on the ground floor - two bedrooms on second floor, one with king bed, one with two double beds & bath in each, and a loft with a double bed and bath.

I also heard that the Omni has free wireless internet in the lobby (not sure if it is true) which might be beneficial to teenagers if you bring a laptop. The hotel also has a business center with exesting pc's, but a $10 an hour it can add up over a week.

Thanks Dive Girl-I've searched posts for the information regarding the Omni Villas & you gave me exactly what I want. This was MY first choice. We are 3 couples in our late fortys. I thought it would be nice for all to stay under one roof but I got out-voted & we're staying at the Moon in Feb. Sure hope to try it the next time.
