Are all the hotels going to be back up and running by april/may 06. My friends and I are thinking of staying at the oasis cancun. I've read some bad reviews about it. Is it as bad as everyone says. We are looking for a decent place, reasonably priced, good beach, fun that is going to have people our age(mid 20's).
I know that alot of younger ppl from where i'm from ( ottawa)go to the oasis...they love it but the only reason why they are in cancun is really to party. If your looking for great food , beautiful resort and great service i think that the oasis is average. I'm going to the riu cancun ( 5 star) in january and heard many good things ( even went to see it when i was in cancun last june) and it's beautiful!!! It's also one of the lower $$$ for a 5 star that i could find. Hope this helps:)
it is (was) pretty dumpy. we stayed at the Grand last year. that is much nicer and cleaner, lights work, you get washcloths and dont have to drink corona on tap...yuck!
we just upgraded (as we took an apple package for dirt cheap to oasis) i just paid 50 per night to upgrade.
also remember, if you are a guest at the oasis, there are bars and restaurants that you do not have access to.
but, if you are young and dont care, i guess it would be fine.
It is not to bad of a resort for the price. We went last year and the only complaints I had was that it is a very big resort and you have to do a lot of walking to get anywhere. I have also heard they have lost alot of there beach since the storm but with the beach project in place it should be in decent shape when you go but check with the hotel or other posts to confirm that. You are in the perfect age group for that hotel and from what you stated you are looking for it seems to fit the criteria. Just check out the info on there beach before you go to make sure it will be somewhat back to normal. Other then that have a good time.
