We were in semi beautiful cancun dec 1 thru the 4th.. we stayed at riu las americanas.. this is our 5th time in cancun and we were shocked at the devastation the city has suffered.. the ride from the airport was silent as we watched hotel after hotel in ruins... vegetation has been stripped from it's branches and every palm tree in sight is damaged... The work going on is unbelievable from the road going thru town to massive tear down of hotels... It's as if someone dropped our hotel in the middle of a war zone if not for the hotels on either side being worked on we would not have known of the devastation around us. We spoke with many of the locals and they told us how horrible those days were..our hearts go out to the people of the coast..We are definetly "stay at the resort and relax kind of people" and a good thing.. most of the work going on is at the hotels.. I would def. think about your trip if you are going to be touring the zone...If your the "hang at the hotel kind of people" I would say pack your suits and have a dirty monkey on me... We had no problem with the hotel and food but i have experienced the big "D" since our arrival back home.. pretty sure it was the whopper in the airport.. all the mex food and burger king kills me..ahhaah

but its well worth the it.. we love cancun and it will be back but it will be longer than i have heard.. i do have pix but have to figure how to post them.. ( computer ill. )
