Thinking about keeping our Feb. reservations against our T.A's advice. Anyone seen or heard anything about the progress there??
Thanks for the e-mail address!!
Good News! Here is the reply I received today:
I am glad to inform you by the end of the first week of February all our services will be up and running. You will be able to enjoy and relax at the beach area as well.
Truly looking forward to welcome you back at our paradise!

I wrote back a quick note thanking her for the information and I specifically asked whether the beach restaurant and jacuzzi bar would be open and the reply was:
"Yes both places will be open"
We have decided to keep our plans as is and hope for the best!
If anyone is going to the Omni before 2/20, I'd love to see any pictures of the hotel & grounds if you would be kind enough to share them!
Thanks!
Lejaff - I will be there with some friends while you are there part of the time but not in time to take pictures before your trip.
I have been to this resort several times and it is wonderful. I am going even though I know it may not have all the beach up to par.
It is good news that you received that it may be.
Tbe staff is great here and the resort in compared to others that I have been to or walked by on the beach is the best looking in Cancun.
I do have a link here that shows some previous trips that I was on at the OMNI in Cancun.
There may be 4 or 5 trips from the past two years here.
Thanks for the link to the photos. I can hardly wait to feel the sand between my toes and I really need some warm sun on my face!
We were just down in cancun over the new years eve week. Walked by the omni and they were working on the jacuzzi and beach bar but it looks like it will be at least a month or two before it could be ready? The actual beach itself is in good shape and lots of sand . Easily able to walk around and up and down both ways. We found it very interesting to see all the work that had been accomplished and how well they are putting things back together. We were scheduled for Jan. to stay there but have now pushed it back to summer vacation with our kids. We did stay at the RIU Caribe and that was a very nice resort. Don't know if you can get 5 in aroom though. I know that sunscapes in the riveria do allow 5 in their rooms and looked very kid friendly - water trampoline and game room etc.
Well, our Travel Agent said it was one of the few places that allowed 5 in a room and that's how we are booked, so I hope that works out. If it's tight, I guess all the more reason not to spend much time in our room! I suppose time will tell.
We have stayed at the Omni many many times. Even when we had a timeshare nextdoor at the Royal Islander we spent more time at the omni. The beachfront swim up hottub bar was the best. I hope the damages were not too severe. As i recall they had the most sand prior to the storm and that beach could not stand much of a pounding.
The Omni for sure can and will accommodate a family of five. I know.
We were even offered an upgrade to a villa there and shame on me I denied it. Why - I don't know. I thought it was too good to be true and find out it was really an offer I should have not refused. It would have been a blast. We did have two rooms but they do have very large rooms.
Don't worry.

Your pictures are great!!! Looks like you had a blast at the Omni. What was the difference in the ocean At the RIU Caribe vs Omni Hotel & Villas?? I know it's calmer at the Caribe but I'm hoping it's blue. Not like a bay.
We have reservations for April 2-8 (Spring Break) at the OMNI. We have stay there many times in the past. Wondering if we should switch to another hotel, or does anyone know first hand if it will be o.k. I'm getting nervous with everyone switching hotels.
Thanks, Cindy
