I just copied the following message from the Omni's web page. We were suppose to be there from 2-22 to 2-27!

Hotel Reopens March 1, 2006

The Omni Cancun Resort & Villas is currently completing rennovations following Hurricane Wilma. As a result, we are unable to honor or accept reservations through February 28, 2006. We are currently accepting reservations for arrival dates beginning March 1, 2006

I wrote to Leticia asking her to confirm the information on the Omni website. Here is her reply:

Dear

Apple Vacations has been already informed of the delay in our reopening date and they are assisting us to relocate their reservations. They should be contacting you in the next couple of days.

Please take note we are letting clients to come before March 1st and after February 18th; as long

as they know that the beachfront facilities will not be available during their stay.

If you choose to stay at Omni Cancun we are willing to include daily buffet breakfast on your reservation.

Please let me know whatever I can assist you with.

I had a little scare with the posting of the delay in the Omni's opening. As an Omni vacation Club member I checked with member services and thier info was also that they are keeping reservations from Feb 18th. and that the Pina Colada and Kuku's Bar would probably not open until March 1st. It also sounds a little hit and miss on DaVinci's reopening.

I booked an air/hotel package through Hotwire for 2-22 through 2-27. Yesterday I received an email stating that the Omni had cancelled the hotel portion of the package because they would not be fully operational. Hotwire reimbursed us for the full package and then rebooked us at an all inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen.

Just beware that it seems as though Leticia is simply conveying the information from the contractors and management and it changes often. Once you get a response, be sure to ask that she contact you with any updates.

This is news to me, I'm happy I just checked the forum today and I hadn't heard any of this. I'm booked for March 4th-11th with 3 other guys for spring break. All the info is appreciated. I'm giong to get in contact with my TA and see what he says if the hotel for some reason wouldn't be acceptable once we get there.

I also was booked in the Omni in February but just booked the Fiesta American Condesa for 6 nights for $1,300 including tax and fees. They promised to put us in the Coral Beach property if their date was delayed. They are scheduled to re-open on the 16th of February.I'm keeping my fingers crossed...
