thuben. I believe the lobby bar will be open. So will the pool bar. It just so happens that some friends are going to stay at the Royal Sands from the 11th - The 18th. I hope to have a more indepth report after they come back. I am sure all will be good. DOS EQUES ALL AROUND!!!! See you on the 25th.
Check out the live cam from the royal islander. At least that beach seems pretty nice today.
I am getting married at the Omni Cancun in May and keeping a close watch as to what is happening in the next month. We have 70+ people coming to the wedding so we want to make sure that it is fully up and running. We can't seem to get an honest answer out of the people at the resort. Please keep us all informed on your trip to Cancun and if you happen to walk by the Omni, please share your findings. Thanks for sharing the information.
Omni is scheduled to open on March 1. A few of their facilities (beach bar is the only one i can remember at the moment!) will not be ready until mid-March, however.
Kuku's Jacuzzi beach bar and Pina Colada's beach restaurant slated for opening March 15 at the Omnni.
This is our latest communication from the Omni. I think they are asking for feedback. I am telling them. I would like to have some access to beach when we are there 2/25-3/4.

Receive the warmest Regards from the Member Services Staff, regarding your question we are going to have the buffet-breakfast at La Paloma Restaurant, cause Piña Colada is not going to be ready neither Kukus Bar at the beach area, we are trying to do our best to finish with all this, but we just received this information from our Management.
The good news here is that we are renovating all of our facilities, you will see a new pool concept, main lobby and of course a fresh decoration in the rooms.
Is very important you know the conditions how we are going to be opened when you come on this February 25th, unfortunately we are not going to have access to our beach area cause I told you we are going to have people working down there and the management decided to closed that area for your own security.
I hope you understand this situation which is our of our hands, we were having a raining wheather which stop the contructions.
Please let me know if your opinion about this and do not hesitate in contact me if you require more information or assistance.

I sent the Omni Cancun Hotel an email specifically inquiring about the beach, beach service and palapas (all very important to us) for our travel date of March 3. I should hear back about the palapas or lack of them either Monday or Tuesday. I am praying they will have palapas by March 3. Everything sounds like it's on track for March 1 with the exception of the Jaczzi bar. I also asked if they had any recommendations as to where else we can stay if the Omni doesn't reopen as planned. We're hopeful they'll reopen March 1, but am not counting on anything because the reopen dates have changed a few times now. We are going March 3 whether the Omni is open or not. If we have to stay at another hotel, I think we'll stay south of Cancun somewhere, maybe the other Omni. We'll see.

Good morning Jodi.
Thank you for your e-mail.
The hotel is still scheduled to open on March 01st. The architects have told us that Piña Colada will be ready and the beach area in front should be also, as we still have a nice beach. I will need to check about the Palapas, as I see the have the Palapa shells constructed and are out in the main parking area to be thatched and put into place.
On Monday afternoon, there is a meeting again with all the construction people so I would like to attend and see what they say and get back with you.
The are starting to fill the pools and the new furniture has started arrive and be put into the finished guestrooms. Da Vinci, which had little damage, is finished.
The are finishing the swim-up pool bar, pool grill and the lobby / lobby bar area. La Paloma will be finished in 10 days.
The Government started the beach recuperation porject and it is working wonderfully. Right now they are down near the Grand Royal Solaris and moving down to the Westin Regina, which they should get there by the first week of March. They do not have a date when they will be near us, which estimates seem to be around mid to late March at this time. We are lucky to have a beach, as the other properties are suffering due to this.
There are other all inclusives open now and if things to not go as planned, there are options here in Cancun.
There is also our property in Puerto Aventuras, but may be too remote for you. The beach there is truly spectacular (but no heavy wave action) and we just built a new jacuzzi bar there that is bigger then the former Kuku´s (Kuku´s in Cancun is still not slated to be open until March 15th).
The staff are all working so hard and we are all under a tremendous amount of stress and pure adrenaline to get our Omni Cancun rejuvented and back together, so we can welcome home friends.

Seems like you getting a better response than I am. This what they sent me Yesterday 2/11:
I am going to pass your requested to our Management, to be honest I dont
think this could be posible, we have many people working in all our areas
down there by the pool and I think it woulb be safe for you.
I get back to you as soon as we have more information form the
management.

From what I understand there won't be be beach access until March 1st. I wonder why Marisol hasn't mentioned that though. Please let us know what she says with her next reply to you.
We switched our dates from February 16 to March 3 because of the beach situation there. It sounds like you will have better luck if you can also change your dates. I know sometimes that's not possible.
I'll be at the Omni 3/5, and I'm also anxiously awaiting any news!
