 Cancun Limo: Bad Experience

In June I reserved a Lincoln Towncar and "meet & greet" driver through Cancun Limo. (http://www.cancunlimo.com) Even though I clearly communicated via email my arrival date and time, as well as the airline flight number, the driver and car were not there as Cancun Limo promised they would be. One of the reasons I used such a service was to avoid waiting for other tourists to get on the bus. Because of Cancun Limo's incompetence, not only were we later in arriving at our hotel than the other guests, but we also had to wait outside the airport in the heat and deal with all the hucksters who were trying to tell us that they knew our driver, etc., etc., etc. Once the driver finally arrived (after I had to activate my cell phone in Mexico to call them), he showed us the dispatch sheet that clearly showed that Cancun Limo had incorrectly recorded our arrival time.

Cancun Limo did not offer any kind of discount on what I thought was an over-priced ride to begin with. Not only that, they have refused to respond to three emails that I sent to them after I returned from Mexico. That’s extremely unprofessional.

I strongly suggest that you consider a different limousine company for your trips in Cancun. A problem upon arrival is not a very good way at all to begin a vacation. Also, DO NOT ever give your credit card information to someone unless you are sure that they are a reputable company (I paid cash on the return trip.) DO NOT pay in advance for any service such as this. You won’t have any practical recourse in a case like this where the contracted party fails to meet their obligation. If you schedule a car, then it would be a good idea to call and confirm your airport pick-up before you leave home.

thanks for the heads up. What made you choose them in the first place since they were high priced?

(I can personally vouch for Cancun valet, and many others here have recommended Brants.)

Unfortunately, it reads like someone made a simple mistake in recording the arrival time. A couple weeks ago, my regular pick up was a bit late for me as well, they had anticipated the baggage wait and we were only bringing carry on so we were outside of the airport in about twenty five minutes. We used the time to shoot the breeze with the locals working there and to catch a smoke. ;-)

I suppose this is a good warning for anyone considering using this service, but on the other hand I kinda have to say mistakes happen.

If you didn't before your trip, next time, check here first for feedback on transportation from the airport.

I've had messed up times on my pick-ups as well, hours different, wrong flights, but int he end, I've always made it to the hotel eventually.

Personally, if not using my resorts transportation, I'll stil with my $9 van ride every time. But that's just my personal preference not a call out on you.

Yes, that's what happened. But, once they created the dispatch sheet then they should have automatically compared the arrival time that I told them and the arrival time of the flight to what they wrote on the dispatch sheet. In that way mistakes don't happen. If they can't avoid a very simple mistake such as one that affects the crux of their business, then they are in the wrong business.

They should have offered a discount and they should have replied to my subsequent emails. At no time was I ever rude or impolite to them. I paid the sub-contracted driver in full and tipped him 20%. Cancun Limo’s lack of a response to my subsequent emails is a reflection of their poor management.

agree w/ you lou...should have at least responded to your emails...if they had you wouldn't be on here persuading others to not use them

Any business owner worth his or her salt would know that...especially since you have a VALID complaint...I could see if you were complaining the driver smelled or something : )

Carry on Lou!!

I agree Cancun Limo is horrible. We ordered a limo and got a Van!!!

Worse then them is Cancun Transportation Services www.cancuntransportationservices.com they didn't even show up to the airport we paid 550.00US for a limo.

When they were supposed to pick us up to go home this time the limo was an old SUV!!!!

USA Transfers - no $$$ up front, just pay the driver when you get to your destination. (Although if you book a round trip, you will pre-pay a portion of the return leg.)

I don't think USA transfers has limos though ?????

It's great that you've shared your experience so others can make an informed decision. Mistakes happen but the lack of follow-up response is totally unacceptable.

I started using Cancun Valet a few years ago because of numerous positive reports here on TA (just like I'll not use Cancun Limo because of the two posts on this thread which sound credible and very negative).

Cancun Valet has been efficient and professional at a fair price and we'll will use them again next month -- I have no problem with their credit card process because of my own experiences with them coupled with their reputation on this message board.

Let's not confused all the companies because most are excellent.

Besides Cancun Limo and Cancun Transportation, any other bad guys out there we should avoid?
