Everyone on this TA site has been SO helpful with their answers and advice....so for another opinion, here it goes.....

We leave this Sunday for Riu Caribe....2 adults with teenage sons....

Questions:

1. Tell me about the buffet food.

2. Which restaurant is worth getting up early to make a reservation.

3. Your room view? Which room?

4. What was the best drink there??

5. If we don't venture out, how much $$ do you think we can get away with bringing??? Anything else you want to share, please email me (especially pics) to:

lmbullar(at)garlandisd(dot)net.

Here is a link to our photos from the Riu Caribe in Feb of this year. We also took a side trip to Isla Contoy. There are pics of the hotel, but also a lot of us you will have to flip through. We took pics of the lobby, room, views from different directions, pool, bar........I would go back here again! You may have to copy and paste the link. You will have a great time at the Riu Caribe, the buffett food is great, pizza place is a nice change (and usually not busy). We weren't impressed with the Chinese restaurant - it is a buffett you need reservations for. Las Margaritas restaurant is actually a steak place and doesn't have mexican food! There are always snacks in the sports bar - nachos, fruit, sandwiches so your boys should be able to get food anytime.

Well the food was ok... I mean it could be a lot better. But in terms of Restaurants... I like the Steak House the most.

In terms of drinks.....try the Miami Vice...soooooo good. Also the Blue Hawaiians.

If you don't plan to venture out a lot...you won't need much money. Just for tipping. If you decide to go to clubs at night....they're anywhere from $25 to $40 per night (open bar).

One thing I can tell you is that, the animation team (entertainment staff) will make your vacation. They are absolutely amazing. You will meet a guy working there...Joseph....tell him Galina says hello and you will probably get star treatment! He is one of the most attentive employees there. These guys work estra hard to make your vacation that much more special.

Make sure to get involved with a lot of what happens in and around the hotel. The Aqua Fitness is very popular and a lot of fun. The tequila volleyball in the pool is great too. Trust me....get involved.

I have several pictures....and I will be posting those really soon. But if you give me your email...I will send them to you.
