Back from Omni - short review

Well we returned on Saturday from a weeks stay at the Omni. The hotel is very nice. Service was impeccable from the minute we pulled up until the minute we left, although at times service could be and was very slow. But you're on vacation with not a care in the world so relax and take it easy.

Before anyone asks - yes you have to sign for everything even if you are not doing all inclusive. Now with that said we did not have any issues with that. By the second day we learned that if you asked for your check right when you were ordering the staff usually brought it back with your drink order. We also learned that if you were going to be sitting in one spot, by the beach and/or pool, just to ask the staff to keep the tab open. That turned out to work out great. The staff would bring the tab, we'd sign and then start all over again. Waiting to sign a check certainly shouldn't take away from this resort.

The hotel was beautiful, the grounds were constantly being groomed, the beach is very wide, the palapa's were plentiful as well as chairs by the pool, water was gorgeous and the room was very nice.

The bus stop was right down at the street and never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus the entire time we were there - anywhere.

We felt that the food was average to above average. By the end of the week we understood when people said they were bored even though there are 3 restaurants on site. I will go into much more about the food when I post my review.

As I said earlier the service could be and was very slow quite a bit of the time, but the staff waited on you hand and foot. This hotel had some of the best service I've ever seen. You only needed to look like you needed something and they were right there asking what they could do for you.

We did find that our check in was a little different than others exp.. but we did find out that it had to do with booking through and/or owning a timeshare. We were met at the door and whisked away to a separate room. We were brought drinks and had all the paperwork taken care of while sitting back drinking our Dos Equis. What a great way to start off the week!!

I'd be happy to answer any questions. I'm hoping to get the review written today or tomorrow so it should be posted by the end of the week.

Overall a great time at the Omni!!!

Sounds great... This should make others happy who will be visiting this location.

Glad you had a great time too...

What else did you do during your week of visiting?

It has been a very rough year for our family, especially me, so we decided not to book anything ahead of time. If we felt like doing something when we woke up in the morning, then off we went.

I really needed a week of some heavy R & R, so that's exactly what we did. We went to Isla Mujeres for the day and rented a golf cart. That was great.

We went into town a couple of times and did some leisurely shopping and went to Senior Frog's one night for just a few hours.

Other than that, most of the time was spent on the beach or at the pool.

There is so much to do and see in Cancun, but this time just wasn't the time to do it. That's all right, there's always next time!!!!

So if you are AI, you don't have to sign? What is the ratio of guest that are AI vs. EP?
