I have two female friends going to the Riu Lupita tomorrow on a late deal but they dont have transfers to the hotel.

would a taxi be fine , and how much roughly would they be looking to pay

The Riu Lupita is in Playa del Carmen and one-way shared van transportation will be around $25 USD per person. It can be arranged at the transportation desk on the right side just before you exit the building after exiting customs.
