 Sky Auction

Has anyone booked a trip with this company? I am looking at the Ready Set Go! It will get me a stay at a hotel, and I have to pay the all-inclusive fee when we get there. Thanks!

I just briefly checked out the site and it looks like there's a lot of additional costs. My instincts would tell me not to trust this place...but I'm also curious to see if anyone has actually booked with them.

I booked with them years ago but these days (as already mentioned) it seems as if there are so many additional costs associated with the stays. ....fee for single occupancy, an extra $$$ for the week, $$$ for particular weeks, etc.....

I would just caution that you read each auction over several times to note the additional costs and if its still worth it to you, then bid as the company did deliver for the few auctions I won (again years ago).

I would also advise that you have a valid credit card on file. I once one an auction only to be told hours later that I had forfeitted the auction since my credit card number wasn't up to date eventhough I updated it the same day hours later when I realized an old credit card on file.

My girlfriend booked a vacation well ahead of time to Barcelo Maya Tropical and her friends who decided to join her booked shortly after through an online site like Expedia, I think. She paid several hundred dollars more for the same auction.

The other posters are right. I won an auction on this sight once, and once you pay the add'l fees it is more expensive than what you would pay conventionally. The good thing was they let me cancel after I realized the true cost for this auction

I on the other hand have won auctions and felt happy with what I got. Again, you MUST really know your prices and read the fine print or you will may find yourself paying way more for something you should have gotten from anywhere else for less $$$.

As other posters have commented...watch the extra prices. There are some awesome deals to be had - if you know what you are really bidding on. For example we booked a 1 week stay in a One Bdr suite at the Grand Mayan in Acapulco - the auction price we paid was only $2.00 BUT there was an additional fee of $195.00 which we were aware of, but it was still a great deal...we had our own private dipping pool on our balconey! It was awesome! But for example when bidding on 'per nite' stays, there are often fees of 35 pp per nite. Just have to read what the fine print fees are and know what a fair price is.

We just returned from a trip booked on sky auction. Beware! Our sky auction vouchers were not honored. We booked our stay at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Hotel in Punta Cana. When we arrived I pulled out our sky auction vouchers and were immediately down-graded to the Casino Hotel. It has no beach. I placed a phone call to sky auction from the front desk and got no help. i have since e-mailed sky auction three times since our return on Jan. 11. No reply.

If you have bought vouchers from Skyauction.com, and they are not honored at the specific hotel, they are probably not going to answer your complaints. You need to contact your credit card company that you purchased them from, and cancel the transaction stating that they did not provide what was stated on the purchase.

We booked our tickets to Dominican Republic and they worked out just fine. They were about twelve hundred dollars less than what was on Expedia. Very cheap deals at time, if you read the fine print. In the offseason you can go on a 7 day inclusive beach resort for less than $700---now that's cheap. Just remember, book as early as possible because they have a block bought out from the airlines/resorts so it's all based on availability. Remember if you win an auction, you still need to submit your dates of travel to see if they have space. Do it early and you'll be happy.

We used them for 3 cruises and for several hotel stays. I agree with the others that you must figure your costs before bidding, decide on the highest amount you would pay, bid that amount and don't get caught up in a bidding war that might cost you more than you intended.

The costs are all mentioned in the description of the auction so it's not difficult to figure out what the total cost would be. Then you must add the Sky Auction fixed bidding fee.....think it's $15.00US.

We ended up with great deals and were very pleased with our vacations. We had no problems using our vouchers and found their customer on-line service very prompt and helpful.

I recently went to look for another cruise and I noticed most of the auctions for cruises now have hidden reserve prices. It also seems like the extra fees have increased and when I added everything up and compared prices with prices found at other cruise purchasing sources....Sky Auction didn't seem to be such a good deal anymore.

I have no complaints with my dealings with Sky Auction and when we checked in with our vouchers, we were not treated any better or worse than anyone else checking in. In fact with the cruises, I think we were upgraded a step from what I thought we'd be.

I would not hesitate to buy another trip with them if I felt the price was right.

Good luck!
