Has anyone booked a trip with this company? I am looking at the Ready Set Go! It will get me a stay at a hotel, and I have to pay the all-inclusive fee when we get there. Thanks!

Has anyone booked a trip with this company? I am looking at the Ready Set Go! It will get me a stay at a hotel, and I have to pay the all-inclusive fee when we get there. Thanks!
We have not booked a trip but we won a 7 day RCI voucher which was valid for 18 months. We tried many many times to organise accom but couldn't find any available in spite of being very flexible. There were also other charges applicable (if we had managed to get somewhere) and we did not expect this. Wouldn't advise bidding on this -as we awsted our money! Hope this helps.
I have used this company on a trip to Cancun at the Gran Melia, also to The Sun village, I believe, in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Very satisfied on both trips but as stated I read the auction details several times to make sure I understand what I am getting and what to bid. I have also used dining and entertainment vouchers in San Francisco and Puerto Vallarta with no problems. We will be in Cancun next week and are going to Playa to use some dining certificates we won there also.
I used shy action last year for a stay in Jamaica. NO airfare, just the resort, and we saved a good deal of money. You need to know how much the resort costs before using sky auction though. Add up the various fees plus your auction bid and see if it is a better deal. Based on the going rate for our resort, we saved about $300 using sky auction and had no problems with the service.
I bought a couple of trips from them. I just got one to Cancun for about $600 less than expedia or travelocity. You just have to calculate all the fees before bidding.
I agree with the others about calculating all the fees beforehand. They do include all the charges and fees upfront and if you read the auction add in full there should be no surprises. We have used them for a couple cruises and for a weeklong resort stay and were happy with the price we paid. Just do your homework about what you are bidding on and don't get carried away when bidding and you should be fine.
has anyone gotten 18 hour flights with this company ?
because I was curious about buying 2 flights with them, but I do not want 20 hr flights to be what I end up with down the road.
thanks
We have used them 3 or 4 times and all were wonderful especially our stay at the Avalaon Grand through them in Cancun.
Watch the fees involved like everyone has said, they have some great deals!
I tried a few times and just simply gave up because they were putting in fake bids above mine until it's no longer a bargain. BE CAREFUL.
A couple of comments from a long time user of Skyauction - I was one of their first members. I have won over 50 bids from them thru the years. I have used them for a variety of things including packages, airfare alone, hotel alone, activity certificates, and restaurant certificates (most of the Mexico ones actually benifit Habitat for Humanity).
As far as fake bids, doesn't happen. Many people including myself use the automatic bidding. I decide the absolute higgest price I am willing to pay and allow the bidding to take it's course. Works the same way as e-bay. Say if the high bid is $50 and you bid $60 with less than a minute to go. If my automatic is set at $100 needless to say my automatic will trump yours and I will pay $61 for the auction.
As far as getting strung out flights - yes, once. Three fights and 20 hrs to get home from Paris. This is the only time it has happened to me on a flight thru them. Know the current airfare though. With Skyauctions surcharges they often are more expensive than you can purchase them for.
Hotel - only two incidents thru the years. Once a hotel said my taxes were additional which they shouldn't have been. The other time they forgot to make my reservation until 30 days after I input my dates and the hotel was no longer available by that point. That did pi** me off since it was a great rate. I did receive a refund.
Yes, you can get some great bargains. Know your prices before you bid. Read all the fine print including blackout dates, surcharges, and service fees.
I have used ebay a few hundred times and you kind of know when shrill/fake biddings is going on. People aren't stupid enough to put in some of the final prices on skyauction I've seen; but maybe some are.
