This place is hard to beat. Upon arrival we were offered a cold drink and cool damp washcloths to wipe our faces. The occupancy rate was low and we were immediately given an upgrade room to an oceanfront Junior Suite for no additional charge. The doorman took us to our room and gave us a tour of the hotel. Every time we saw him the rest of the week he called us by name.
The staff were exceptional and worked very hard to meet our every need. At the pool fresh fruit and vegetables were offered every couple of hours. The pool water was clean and the beach exceptional. Towels were large and freely handed it out to all hotel guests. The beach is wide and clean with the soft white power sand that makes the Caribbean unique. The sand on the East shore beaches is more coarse than on the North shore.
There are new rules, which nonsmokers will appreciate. Smoking is no longer allowed indoors in Mexico. At the Coral Beach, there are areas outside where, if one wishes to smoke, he or she can sit in a comfortable chair or couch, located right outside the doors to the pool by the lobby lounge.
Service on every turn was friendly, fast and exceptional. We are going back next year and highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

WOW, I think we found our new favorite vacation spot. This was our first time in Cancun and wanted to make sure that we experienced a high level of service that is available in the US. I selected this hotel because of the reviews I had read about their service and beach, and was not dissapointed. We've been to many beaches, but the beach in front of this hotel is fabulous. The sand is a soft white blanket before you reach the clear turquoise water. It's wonderful for simply floating. There's little or no waves, so if you want waves, this beach is not for you.

The hotel also did not dissapoint us. We had an oceanfront junior suite, with a very large balcony. Everything about the room was great, especially the 5-6 towels that they leave you each day. The only negative in the room was the fact that there was no sleep timer on the tv, and my husband has a tendency to keep the tv on all night. The location was right across from the convention center and with companies cutting back on conferences, the hotel was only at about 30% capacity. Bad for them, but great for us. They did not cut back on staff, only closed a few of their restaurants, which was fine since there's so many others around the hotel.

The pool area was also great, with the waiters bringing old towels and fresh fruit around about once an hour. The poolside drinks were a little weak, but that's always expected.

We ate at the Isle Convoy restaurant daily with the included breakfast buffet. The food there was excellent, but a little boring after 8 days. Again the staff was attentive, but not overpowering.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

We have stayed here three times now. Most recently we switched from the Westin Lagunamar during our trip. The FAGCB is a beautiful property, with extremely friendly staff who are always happy to help. The hotel and all of Cancun were fairly empty. This worked out for us, as we got a great room on the 8th floor with one days notice. The beach here is awesome! It has the nicest sand and very gently lapping waves. There is a "marina" on the property which offers snorkel tours, jet skis, banana boats and the like for reasonable prices. The snorkeling we did off the coast of the hotel was much better than other places we snorkeled during Cancun and Cozumel snorkel tours. You can charge these to your room for convenience as well. Breakfast was included in our hotel price, which was great. Due to so few people being around, breakfast was moved from the normal location inside to Isla Contoy situated between the fabulous pool and beach. That was a great way to start the day - breakfast by the water. I highly recommend this property. I have not any problems the three times we've stayed here. The staff are very attentive. Drinks and food are pricey, but it's a little elevated at all restaurants and hotels in the hotel zone. Snacks and drinks are cheap at the OXXO next door.
The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. The property is beautifully landscaped. It's very thoughtfully designed. Huge pool with three pool bars. I won't stay anywhere other than the Coral Beach when in Cancun.

My wife and I just returned from a 6 night stay at the Fiesta Americana. We have been to Cancun 7 times over the past 9 years and this hotel by far was the best. We finally had found a place that we would love to go back to. Here are the reasons. First, best beach we have been to. There were no rocks and amazingly no seaweed. The sand was perfect in and out of the water. The water was clear and calm. Second, the service. We read in preavious reviews about the service and said to ourselves how much of difference can this make? Go, and you will find out. These people will do everything for you and do it with a smile. Third, the hotel itself. Yes, a little outdated but they are renovating it. The loby is just beautiful and the rooms are big. My wife loved the bed ( it was actually comfortable ) and if my wife was happy, I would be happy. You can always find little things in every resort that are not to your liking. We found a few but were to minor to mention.
Some negatives. As you have read in other reviews yes the prices are on the high side. My wife and I usually go to all inclusives but decided to try one that was not. Drinks at the pool were around 9-13 dollars US ( they were very good ) But hey, we were on vacation. And yes, I agree, I don't think Cancun got the memo about the world's economy. My wife and I ate out every night. We didn't drink and our meals were about 40 -60 US dollars. We actually had a free breakfast with our package and ate a good breakfast wich tied us over till dinner. There is an OXXO near by ( exit the the front lobby and go to your right. Before you reach the mall go left and you should see it. 5min.walk ) Get plenty of bottled water and snacks. Mini bar in the room is outrageous.
Highly recommend that you go to the FAGCB. Do not let the swine flew scare you away. It seemed to have frightened a few people. It was like my wife and I had the whole beach to ourselves. If you are looking for a nice place to relax I promise you will find it here.

I just returned from a 5 night stay at the hotel. It was my boyfriends first time in Cancun and the beach frontage and pools exceeded our expectations. The hotel had a below 50% occupancy and the service was excellent for the most part.
We were upgraded to a full ocean view which was provided to us free of charge although it was in a smoking room. The smoking room was fine as all of the surfaces are stone and we were not at all uncomfortable with the accomodations. The hotel is in the process of remodeling their rooms. Ours had the older decor, but for our price point it was fine.
The breakfast was included in our package which was a great savings to us. During our stay two of the four restaurants were closed due to low season. The concierge pushed hard for us to eat at their restaurants which are excellent put pricey.
Don't throw away your money ordering drinks poolside as everything is pricey and you will expect to pay nearly 4 dollars for a soda. You will save lots of money by buying your snacks and beverages at the oxxo next door.
Any extra's like computer use, fitness room are extra cost.
Service at hotel was curteous and consistent.
Be prepared to encounter pushy vendors the minute you walk out of the hotel. We dined out almost every night. The restaurants we dined at haven't gotten the memo that the economy is bad and maintain unreasonably high prices. We spent on average 75 dollars every night which included only one cocktail. A typical entree averaged 300 pesos which is equivalent to about $25.00 dollars.

I loved the hotel and had a wonderful vacation. The beach here is top notch. Cancun is beautiful. The only reason I would ever reconsider going there again would be the extremely high prices for food and pushy, sometimes rude vendors you encounter outside.

If you decide to go, avoid shopping for nick nacks at the flea market. You can find comparable prices at the airport and avoid dealing with the vendors.

In conclusion, you can't go wrong with this hotel. If all you want is to relax by the beach and pool you will love it here!
