I was thinking of posting a review for some time, and what really pushed me to finally do that was one of the very negative reviews I read about the Coral Beach. I am not questioning anything they say, but what a contrast to our experience! In short this is a paradise. Cleanliness, invisible but very effective room service, beds changed sometimes twice a day, chocolates for the night, high quality hotel bedding, very affordable meals served to the room. $50 for two, tips included, for a very decent lunch. And what's with the $120/day internet? It was $10/day, if you pay $70 for a week. We spent less that $500 in 7 days by charging every meal and every drink to the room. And we had martinis on the beach, coffees in the foyer with live jazz, ate every night at the beach restaurant, Isla Convoy, once at the La Joya, with live mariachi group. All was fantastic! The fact that the hotel was was underbooked may have had something to do with that. They don't charge you for using the coffee machine, as someone said. They charge you for the coffee filters, tea bags, and bottled water, all these are the mini-bar items. There is a clear price list posted. Walk down to the Maya plaza and buy some water. Or bring your own filter. Or just drink from the tap, it's safe :). And the white sand on the beach, that is being sifted for you every day? Omelets that are made for you at the breakfast buffet? I am now making them at home, this is how good they are. And if you need your bed made for the third time in a day, just call the desk and leave 50 pesos for the maid, that helps. This was our second stay in Cancun. First time we stayed at the Camino Real, next door, before it became the Dreams Cancun. It was 8 years ago, and wasn't bad, either. But Fiesta Americana Coral Beach is the best so far. I hope to come back.
