“Sweet dreams”

Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa

Dreams were awesome. I read all the reviews and thought they were pretty helpful, so here's my 5 cents.
We stayed there Dec 7 - Dec 14th which was perferct as we avoided both the Thanksgiving and the Christmas crowds.
What most influenced our choice is the location. Dreams is in the center of the hotel zone and close to every major club. It is also in the corner of the strip so it has an access to 2 beaches which are very clean and beautiful.
At the arrival we got our glasses of champaign, cold towels and cookies. We "got upgraded" to the dolphin view room on the spot. This brings me to the point of rooms in Dreams. Each of them have some sort of ocean or pool view, or both. So there's no need to upgrade yourself. Each room has a balcony. The first floor ones had the hamacks there.
It took a little while for the room to get ready. The official check-in time is 3-00 pm, and our room wasn't ready till 4pm. But all is good - we had lunch and chilled at the bar.
Everyone in the hotel is super friendly. They have 4 restaurants: Oceana with sea food, Himitsu with Asian, Seaside Grill - get a steak there, and World Buffet. The food won't wow you but it was pretty good. If ordering appetizers, order your own, cause the portions are really small.
Each day they had the list full of activities and a night show. They have a children's club that keep kids there all day long.
Pools are small but clean and beautiful. There were plenty of towels and chairs available.
As people noticed, they clean rooms twice a day. At night, they bring you chocolates.
What keeps me from giving them the highest mark are
1) there were issues with hot water. the second person always had to wait awhile for water to run hot again
2) room service is kinda slow. we ordered chips and guacomole at 4am and it took 40 min to bring it
We also checked out the spa - we did a package of 3 massages each. We enjoyed the first two a lot. We got a different group of massagers for the last one and it was just ok.
Overall, it was a great experience. And we would definitely consider staying here next time. If you go, make sure to try their special coffee from 7-9pm and coco locos from 4-5.

This hotel made our vacation perfect. The service was fantastic. The people were wonderful. The location is breathtaking. One of the best things was the Entertainment Team! These people go the extra mile to make you have fun and enjoy your holiday. The activities they plan are for all ages and their excitement is contagious. We were sad to leave because they were great new friends and we've envited them to stay with us if they should come to Canada. The other great people are the Explorer's Club leaders. These ladies were amazing. They had fun activities all day for the girls (3&5). Most times we had to make our girls leave to spend time with us. Thank you for making this a trip to remember and we can't wait to come back.

I'm a bit confused by all the rave reviews on this place! We've stayed in Cancun 6 times, and this was my least favorite. The bartenders didn't even smile (we tipped every time). The consierge upon arrival had no personality, and could've cared less that our room wouldn't be ready for over an hour (past the 3:00 pm check-in). He made no effort to explain the property or amenities, but just pointed us in the direction of the restuarant.
He seemed annoyed by us, in fact the bartenders sort of had that attitude also. The place was filthy by 2:00asif they couldn't keep up with all the glasses, plates, straws and paper. The pool by then was also pretty gross. One day they ran out of towels at about 9:am so we had to wait awhile before we were able to grab a chair and relax. The beach was nice, the food was good (for an all inclusive) and the wait staff was very friendly and efficient, and the kids loved the floating trampoline and pyramid.
This was all over-shadowed by the fact that every night was a wedding under our window and one had a DJ playing extremely loud music until 1:30am. This hotel get s 2 stars from me!

“Great Kids Club!”

Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa

Dec 10, 2007

This is the second Dreams we've stayed at and it was fabulous, just as we expected! The food was great...The staff was so nice...The rooms were beautiful and comfortable...The dolphins were fun to watch...The entertainment staff was fun...
The Explorer's Club was excellent! We had 10 kids ages 3-12 in our group and they all wanted to go to the kid's club everyday for a fun activity like facepainting, rock climbing, sand casles, crafts, etc. Rossy, Elena, Malena, Lotte, Clara, and Aisha made it so fun for all the kids! And they are so nice and friendly! My daughter, Zoe, was very sad when she had to say goodbye to them on our last night.
My only complaint is that the TV remote control didn't work and we had to have someone come work on it 3 times (because otherwise we couldn't change the channel at all). We weren't the only ones in our group w/ this problem. But they were fast in addressing the issue, so that was good.

“Good Resort but not GREAT”

My wife and myself stayed at Dreams November 26th till December 3rd. I am just going to give my opinion on both the good and bad of the resort. The good: First of all the resort is in the perfect location being so close (walking distance) to the main bars and clubs of Cancun. We went out three nights to goto Coco Bongo (the best time), Daddy O's and Senior Frogs. great times were had at all places. The beaches are very nice and very well maintained, it is also great that the staff will bring you drinks as you lounge on the beach. The staff works very hard and should be tipped accordingly, we brought 100 in ones and used all of it for tipping. The pools are both small but are fine for relaxing around or sitting at the swim-up bar. The best place to hang out during the day/night, other than the beach, is the Swing Bar it is great place to have a drink and look out at the ocean. The bartenders their tend to be the best they have at the resort and serve you well, Roger is the man!!!! The food was really good, I have to say staying at a bunch of different resorts this was the best food I had. While every Resort has a "World Cafe" which is never really great, Dreams has the Oceana and Seaside Grille where you can get a great "Surf and Turf" any day of the week!!!! The dolphins are great to see everyday they are so much fun to watch, my wife watched them almost everytime we passed them. However, if you are going to do a dolphin swim goto Wet n Wild b/c after the swim you get the run of the park for only a little extra cash, it really is the best value. The bad: As honeymooners, my wife and myself were greated and told we could go to our honeymoon suite (which we piad alot for) as soon as we arrived. When we got to our room #3242, it seemed to be small and they didn't decorate it like we had seen on this site before. They fixed the room up for us the next day (and it did look nice) but when I asked if the room was really the honeymoon suite they seemed to avoid my question, and all of a sudden could not speak much English. Moving on to the drinks, while they do have some top shelf booze, most bar tenders give you the cheap stuff unless directly told. When I ordered a Jose Cuervo Margarita they would put less than a shot in it (even after tipping $2 or so). The nightly entertainment is the weakest I have seen, thus we went out three nights, and Dreams does not have any kind of "Disco Bar" like many of the resorts I have been to in the past where people can go to dance. Other than the electricity going out one night for thirty minutes, the worst thing that happened was that out of three of the first four nights we were at Dreams we had no hot water. We actually were stuck in our room one night wating to get hot water so we could get a shower after a day of excursions. I do not want to make people think that this is a horrible hotel, b/c overall it was about a 4 out of 5. But, we wanted something special for our honeymoon and it didn't deliver. Just to let people know about the other excursions we went on that we liked was the trip to Xel-Ha (aquatic life park) and deep sea fishing.
