We just got back from our anniversary trip to Dreams (We stayed here on our honeymoon too). I am flabbergasted by the negative reviews below. My wife and I took my parents and 2 of their friends with us this year. We are all different personalities, different vacationers, yet we all loved it so much.

I do not understand these negative reviews. As one reviewer below mentioned, if you are personally a rude or demanding person in your demeanor, people may treat you differently. For us, we love the staff and talk to them all kindly and we all felt it was the best service we have ever had. We made friends with many staff and our interactions with them made our trip. You can always find negatives if you are prone to looking for them. But if you read reviews, there shouldn't be any surprises...

Some Negatives (I only bring these up to show how meaningless they were)
-Our water didn't get hot the first day (Staff came right away and fixed it and showed me how. It was simple and didn't matter to us).
- Caribbean night was not great and the fire show was ok for about 10 minutes, then redundant. (I actually don't like buffets in general and the other restaurants Were open so you could go there).
- I thought I could come up with more if I tried, but can't think of any, so on to the great aspects of this hotel.

Positives:
Location: The best in the hotel zone. While other hotels have only one beach (sometimes not much of one), Dreams is surrounded on 3 sides with water. Every room is ocean view. The beaches are different for what ever your liking is. One is a fun shallow beach. It's waist deep for over 100 feet in a bay with little waves. This one is good for kids. The other is more quiet/adults mainly, with waves and a beautiful view. Both are private and secluded. There are no people trying to sell you stuff while you are laying out like on other beaches in the hotel zone. I love that.

Rooms: They are older! I don't know how people can read reviews, look at pictures and then go on vacation and be surprised that they are older. The pictures of the rooms are really what they look like. If you don't like them, they won't change when you get there. However we like them. They feel like an authentic mexican setting. Not much too them but comfortable. Not some overly posh/ American/Euro decor. They are very clean. The maid service cleaned in the morning and night and provided a beautiful turn down service every night without fail. We were always given towels when needed. The minibar is great. Bottled Sprite and Coke, Coronitas, Juices and bottled water. I had to laugh at one review that complained that the bottles were small. It's a MINI-Bar. But the coke and sprite are normal size and they are free, so if you need more, they restock it. You can also request more of a certain kind.

Food: I don't know what's wrong with me. Because while others say this isn't good food, I am not exaggerating when I say I had some of the best food ever here. And for an all-inclusive it was somethin'. This is one thing we all raved over most. There are items that are not fantastic but nothing was bad. Get the mussels at Oceana! Wow! Get the dreams roll at himitsu, it's great. Get the baked grouper. Everyone loved this. Where i live, our city is known for dining and, if asked what are my favorite things to eat, it would be things at dreams.

- Service: The Best. We had such a great time with the staff. As soon as we arrived (it was hot!) we were given a bottled water and a wet towel. There are some that are nothing special. But Marcelo became a friend. We learned a lot about him and his family. Luis (who we called Brian as an inside joke) was so fun and friendly. Angel at Oceana. All memorable. When we had wine or corona, our drinks were refilled without asking at all restaurants. We got room service for breakfast and it was prompt and good! Now here is the most special. On my anniversary night we went to dinner at seaside grill (adults only). While there, I called the concierge and asked a favor of them. They were so great! While we were out, at no charge, they put rose pedals on the floor and bed (this is usually only done for honeymooners) they made a bow on the bed from towels, pulled a drapery across the bed posts, lit a candle, iced a bottle of champagne and set up decadent desserts at the table with the champagne. They did all of this within 30 minutes of my request. When we walked in my wife was surprised and it was a very romantic night. What amazing service!

Tips: We did some different things this year. We went to Mercado 28. If you don't like haggling or dealing with the locals, then don't go, but I loved it. It is a huge flea market downtown with tons of shops. There are some real jerks there, but there are also some funny, nice people that were great to haggle with. Things can be cheaper here than in the hotel zone flea market. We got some great souvenirs and clothing.

Did the Jungle Tour. The reef was amazing to snorkel in. Such a natural beauty. It was great but snorkeling was too short. Worth the money though. To get a good deal on excursions go to the Xcaret stand at Wal-Mart in downtown. Don't trust the ones on the street. And this is much cheaper than the prices at the hotel.

Ask any questions... there is so much more that could be said.

Husband and I have been to Mexico 3 times in the last year. We usually travel to adults only resorts and upscale. I wanted my kids to experience it as well so we booked Dreams the week before travel. The deal seemed ok. We think the hotel needs a huge renovation! The dolphins should be set free, the water they swim in is horrible. We didn't swim with dolphins there, we went somewhere else and it was amazing! The service was slow but the staff was friendly. The hotel management HORRIBLE! They didn't care if we were happy with our room or not. They booked us on the first floor ocean view. I told them I was not happy, I have kids and don't want to feel unsafe. They put us on the 5th floor, the room was so old looking and there are no sliding glass doors on the balcony. I thought every hotel ocean view would have them. We asked for that upgrade, we'd even pay and they said it was gone within 5 min. Don't know if that is true or not. The World Cafe never seemed to have air on, it was always HOT in there. They didn't have many top shelf liquors to chose from and the only thing they have in the mini fridge is pop, beer, water and OJ. The room service was slow at night. The entertainment staff was the best and the theme nights were a nice touch. I like that they were family friendly and I never felt my kids were not welcome. The food was ok, it wasn't the greatest I ever had and it wasn't the worst. And no free internet in the room? you get 15 min of free business center access you can use on your lap top or on their computers. 15 MIN? You can get internet in the room, it would have been like 60.00USD for I think 5 days. I'm sorry but who doesn't provide free internet these days? There really isn't much of a beach and I think they have the smallest pool in Mexico for the size of resort they have. We don't usually like to stay in the same place 2x since we are just starting to tour mexico, but I don't think I would stay here again. maybe if it was free.

Check in:
We arrived at Dreams before noon. We were originally booked for supersaver room, but I asked for a room 3rd floor or above in hopes to have a little bit of an ocean view. I was told only 1st floor was available. Since it was early, I asked if something might come available. Jorge said come back at 3pm and he might have something. Came back at 2pm to check and he told me he had a room for us in the TOWER!!! Just goes to show, a little politeness and patience go a long way! Also you don’t ask, you don’t get!!!
Our room had the most fabulous ocean view! Every room in the tower has a fabulous view. I didn’t find the room dated like many people have stated. It was very clean and well maintained. They restocked our fridge everyday and we had maid service 2x a day. Everyone was so accommodating. Our luggage arrived and off we went to the beach.

Beaches:
Dreams has 2 beautiful beaches. The tower side has waves, but not as rough as further south on the strip. The beach on the pyramid side is calm with a rock climbing wall.

Pools:
The most unimpressive thing about Dreams were the pools. The small pool on the tower side was nice because you can sit along the side and relax. The other pool was very active and a lot of people smoking in the pool turned me off. I actually preferred the small pool.
We saw about 9 weddings that week. They really do a nice job and it did not interfere with our stay in the least. Actually the kids enjoyed watching them from the balcony in the evening.

Dining
The restaurants were mostly good, with Himitsu being exceptional. I usually don’t care for buffets , but World Café had a nice variety and the food looked fresh. All the ala carte restaurants are ocean side dining with gorgeous views. We ate at Seaside grill for lunch a couple times, but you must be 18 for dinner. 2 nights, they offered theme dining in the lagoon area with shows. We skipped the Caribbean themed meal, but caught the live show afterward. We did the Mexican theme. The food was decent, but a little crazy at the buffet.

Shows and entertainment
We went to most of the shows. The hypnotist was very entertaining and the kids had fun doing karaoke. The 70s and 80s show was a bit cheesy. The outdoor entertainment was fun and we always found lively activity at the resort, either an acoustic singer in the lobby, or music out at the lagoon near the swing bar at night. During the day there were lots of activities if you choose to participate. Kids liked the salsa lessons. My daughters loved the entertainment staff! They really made sure they were having fun!
They also have a bungee trampoline for the kids, which, many seemed to like, but mine were not crazy about. We also took advantage of the excellent location and walked around punta cancun.
My husband played in a Texas holdem tourney at Dreams and won us a 25 minute couples massage. He didn’t take his, but I took full advantage. I have to say it was one of the best massages I ever had! I wish it was longer! The spa is really nice!

I just want to mention a great excursion is the Selvatica tour with ziplining and swimming in the cenote. I’ll post a review for them as well.

Service:
A few things I want to mention…Someone posted in a review that the management was horrible. This couldn’t have been further from the truth for us. They gave us anything we asked for and more. They were always there offering us another drink, pulling out a chair for us, sweeping up a broken soda bottle in our room at a moments notice. Our room was always spotless! The reviewer also mentioned that the restaurants are closed during the theme nights. That is also not true. They have the theme buffets in the lagoon area, but the other restaurants are also open. All in all a great vacation!

We arrived at Dreams with a group of 30 family members and friends for our anticipated wedding on Sunday June 21st. When we arrived we were escorted to our room in the tower which was amazing with an awesome view. We were soon on the beach with a drink in our hand that was constantly refilled. I have read reviews about the servers and bartenders not meeting up to standards, however, we did not have such a problem. By the second day most of the bartenders knew us by name and greeted us with our favorite drinks. A little friendliness and courtesy does wonders here, as it does anywhere. We tried out all of the restraunts and thought the food and service was exeptional, especially for an all inclusive. There are two beautiful beaches, although we spent most of our time on the beach by the tower as it was less crowded and not many children. We also tried the Spa out, which was great, I would highly recommend a least a day pass so you can access the steam rooms, saunas, and hot tubs. I got a pedicure along with some other girls in my wedding, it was good although probably not worth the money. The massages, both single and couples, however, were great. The dolphin swim was something everyone should do at least once, its surreal being in their environment but awesome overall. The resort is somewhat older compared to other resorts, but the rooms were above par, the landscaping was picture perfect (as well as the iguanas), and the upkeep is very well maintained. I also liked the fact that you could walk everywhere around the resort without having to take a shuttle to one side or the other, which seems a bit impersonal to me. The cancun strip is within walking distance also as well as the market. Our wedding on Sunday was better than i could have ever hoped for. Cecilia, the wedding coordinator, was great and took care of every single detail. If you are considering a wedding here I would definetly recommend it without hesitation. Please contact me if you would like any information regarding the wedding. The photographer and videographer were amazing as well, and all the pictures and videos are priceless. Overall, this wedding/trip was amazing for the whole group that went with us and noone had any complaints. If you exude a little friendliness and courtesy the staff with do the same, after all they want to have a good time to. We can't wait to book a trip here for our anniversary next year and I know our friends and family will also be returning.

I have been here for 5 days and 4 nights so far. I am counting down till I can leave! I came here for my honeymoon and am so unhappy. The food is not great, barely a step above fast food. We are pestered by housekeeping wanting to clean our room or turn down the sheets, and on top of everything my camera was stolen off the beach while my husband and I were in the ocean. They avertise that they have skilled professionals who are trained to find misplaced items. I would not reccomend this place to anyone. On top of everything they have dolphins on the resort in a small pool area. Still the list goes on. Dont waste your time on the spa. They wanted 50 bucks for a hand and feet polish change, and charged my husband and I 225 bucks for a bad couples massage. Not to mention the therepist coughed the entire time she massaged me.
Cancun is beautiful, but this place needs some serious work!
