The entertainment staff was great. Especially Zairy and Rita. The went out of their way to have fun with all of the guest. Overall service was good and food was good. My husband and daughter loved the Dolphin swim. The downside was when we checked in, we were to have a room with 2 beds and were given a room with 1 king. When we asked to be changed, the manager on duty was not very helpful. We stayed at Secrets in January and thought the service and check in would be similar. Hands down Secrets wins!

Spent 6 days with husband, daughters, sons-in-law and grandkids. Couldn't have been better. Wonderful staff, great food, most beautiful location in Cancun. Rooms were clean and housekeepers took very good care of us, even remembering to leave an extra sheet each day so my grandson could make a 'fort.' Took salsa dancing lessons and Spanish lessons from Rita, and everyone was kind and attentive. We had three rooms in different locations and each one had terrific views. Two beaches, one calm, one more challenging give options. We're saving our pesos to go back!

I have been to Dreams three times now with my family. The first two trips were amazing. The trip last week was really disappointing.

All three times we stayed here, we upgraded to tower suites or the Presidential suite. I expected to enjoy this trip equally but really came away feeling like I had been ripped off.

We upgraded to the tower again so we could have adjoining rooms and access to the private lobby lounge, beach and pool. Little did I know upon paying for my upgrade that there were multiple weddings booked in our "private" lounge, beach and deck area 6 of the 7 days we were there. That required us to walk to the other side of the resort every night for food and drinks. It also made it impossible to enjoy the sunset on the deck or a late swim in the pool. Plus, the wedding receptions were given away for FREE to anyone willing to pay for a 7 night stay as a couple. There were two weddings on 5 of the nights and 3 on the 6th. It was insane. One night, two guys from a wedding party approached me and told me I could not enter the lobby with my family because there was a private party going on. I had to explain that their private party was being held in the "private" lobby of the concierge tower I paid so dearly to occupy for the week. It was a joke. The best was the night we heard hard core gangster rap, complete with profanity and racial epithets blaring up to our balcony from the wedding reception below. Not one song mind you. An hour of it. Oh joy!

The resort is suffering as a result of the lagging U.S, economy. Services and items once offered as part of the package are no longer available. There are no appetizers served along with the cocktail hour in the lounges. The top shelf booze has disappeared from the bars in favor of rail brands. Seriously. When was the last time you drank a martini made with Smirnoff? Hello headache. The drinks were also terribly watered down and weak.

They are dreadfully short staffed. In past years, you would set your empty drink glass down and another beverage would pop up immediately. This trip, we had to go to the bar and order our own drinks or wait a half hour for someone to come by. Same with the food. If you ordered food by the pool, it took an hour to actually receive it.

The quality of the food in the restaurants is dramatically worse than it was on prior visits. Vegetable sides consisted of microwaved frozen Green Giant veggies and some minute rice. We ate off site at Lorenzillo's and Hacienda Mortero a few nights just to kill the pain of the resort food.

I loved this place in the past but I think their best days are behind them. The staff does their best and they are friendly and helpful but they cannot keep up. Sorry Dreams. Never again.

We went to the Dreams for our honeymoon between 6/15-6/21. We are both in our late 20’s and weren’t looking for a spring break type hotel which this wasn’t.

The Hotel/Room: The hotel was always very clean and it was large enough to feel like you can relax by yourself. The room was nothing more than a typical hotel room with a great view. We over looked the dolphins and every morning was treat to see them playing and swimming with each other.

The Staff: Most the reviews that I read people seemed to agree that the staff made an effort to remember guests by name and make their stay extra pleasant. We did not experience this. Even though we tipped we didn’t feel like more than just an average guest 99% of the time. I will make a point that every staff member was polite and never did anything to lessen the experience. Maybe I was just expecting more based on reviews. The consigner did have a birthday cake delivered up to our room after I asked for it the night of my wife’s birthday which was awesome.

The Entertainment Staff: This was the best part of the hotel experience. They always had events planned and we defiantly took advantage. The bike ride tour and volleyball were our highlights.

The Food: The sushi bar and seaside grill were always great. We made a point to eat dinner at both places more than once on our trip. The world café is a buffet with a few decent options every meal. Don’t go expecting A+ food, but it was defiantly good enough for breakfast and lunch.

The Bars: My only two complaints were that their choices of alcohol were limited to bottom shelf brands and the bartenders were slow/overwhelmed most of the time. However, it is Mexico and we were on vacation, it’s not like we were in a hurry.

Location: Great Location, the beaches were a little small but the hotel was in walking distance to the clubs/shopping. We never used a bus or a taxi to get around. However, if you want to go to Margaritaville or Bubba Gump you probably should catch a bus/taxi.

Spa: On my wife’s birthday she went to the spa for a hot stone massage. I can’t review this first hand, but she did enjoy it.

Pool: Small. We only went in one time. It’s where most the kids spent their days. Stick to the beach and you will be fine.

The Dolphin Swim: The experience was fun but too short. The dolphins are well taken care of and the staff was very nice. They try to sell you pictures at the end $25/ea and $144 for the set. A bit of a rip off if you ask me, we didn’t buy.

Where the Hotel Missed: My biggest disappointment was that I had called five days prior our trip to make sure that they had us down as honeymooners which they confirmed. When we checked in we were escorted past numerous rooms with a “honeymooners” banner on the door. However we did not have one on our door which put a bit of a damper on the vacation from the start. It took me hounding the consigner for two days until they finally set us up with the banner and a decorated hotel room. Also, I guess we checked in at the wrong time since we weren’t offered a hot towel and cookies as mentioned in other reviews. 4:30 pm = too late?
