My boyfriend and I stayed at Dreams from June3-10 and had THE BEST time. We stayed in the pyramid facing the lagoon room 4116 and it was wonderful. It had a nice view of the pool area and the ocean and you could just sit on the balcony and watch the sun set every night.

All of the resturants were great, although I prefered Sea Side grill and Himitsu over Oceana for lunch and dinner. If I had to pick a favorite it would definately pick Himitsu. The most delicious Sushi I have ever had!!!! Try the Dreams Sushi, its the best and definately tried the fried bananas with coconut icecream for dessert!!!!mmmmmmmmm....delicious. Also wonderful sunsets from there if you sit in one of the outer tables.

The activites throughout the day were lots of fun. If you want to lay where all the action is stay by the pool, there is always alot going on and a lot of fun. The beach area, although still very fun, was more relaxing. Snorkeling at the beach was so cool, I spent almost 3 hours out there and didnt want to leave the water.

The lobby bar plays Carrabien music and is a very nice 'after dinner' spot. The Baracuda by the beach was a nice place to meet new guests and was always a good time.

I spent a day at the spa. Got a hot rock massage, facial and pedicure. Massage and facial were Supperb, but the pedicure was not so much because it was done outside of the spa in a salon and i didnt get the spa feel from it. Otherwise the spa was beautiful and very relaxing. Definately worth every penny. (it is rather pricey)

I had so much fun on this trip that I am hinting for a return on my birthday. I could go on and on forever but I wont because its making me sad. :(

The pool was great and the beaches were great. The location was top notch!!!! Service was top notch. Dont forget to tip Everyone, they really work hard for it. I researched this hotel in and out for six months and I built it up in my mind so much I thought I would be dissapointed, but i exceded my expectations. It was wonderful. It was paradise Tip: if you tip your maid, make sure you leave the money under a pillow. There is someone who comes in the room before the maid just to check if it needed cleaning and we had suspision that the maid didnt get all of her tips.

We also went on the jeep adventure tour. Definately a must!!!

If anyone has questions please email me.

Let me begin my review by saying that my wife and I are both experienced travelers and neither of us are particularly picky. We based our decision to stay at Dreams Resort and Spa largely on the reviews on Trip Advisor and the location of the Resort on 'Punta Cancun'. It was difficult, at best, to find anything negative on this resort on the user reviews posted here, and what we did find, seemed to be 'overly-picky'. We had a wonderful experience, overall, and definitely plan to return to Dreams to celebrate our first anniversary next year.

That being said let me go ahead and get the negatives out of the way first. We arrived at the Resort at approximately 12:30 p.m., local. The stated check-in time is 3:00 p.m. We figured that if the room was ready, like most hotels, that they would let us check in. Well, that wasn't the case. They told us that our room (5117) would not be ready until 3:00 p.m. Also, the check-in clerk that we were dealing with (can't recall his name) was essentially rude and condescending. We were not met with a cool towel and champagne like we expected from the previous reviews. We checked back with our clerk several times to inquire about the room, always receiving the same response - "The Room is not ready". We even walked up to the room about 2:00 p.m. The door was closed and there appeared to be no maid activity in sight. When we returned to check-in again, and told the clerk that it appeared ready, he still said it wasn't ready. Finally, around 2:50 p.m., we checked again, and were finally given the green light to check in. This was, essentially, our only negative experiences. Now for the good stuff.....

While we were waiting for our room to be readied, we went to the Rendevous Bar, just off the lobby and had some drinks. We met the bartender, Lino, and found him to be warm, gracious, and eager to please. The Rendevous was very nice, with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outdoors and had a view overlooking the pool. Everything was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The seating was comfortable, and the atmosphere was upscale and relaxed. While sitting at our table, we noticed that the grounds were everything as described, and then some. The foliage was lush and the grass and grounds were breath-takingly beautiful and maintained.

When we got to our room, there was a banner draped across the outside of the door that read 'Honeymooners' with the Dreams shell logo. When we entered, there was a trail of rose petals on the floor leading to the bed. On the bed was a giant heart, shaped from rose petals, in the center of which were towels, meticulously folded into the shape of swans, and washrags folded into the shape of roses. Very impressive. We also had a bottle of champagne on ice. Rose petals were also all over the bathroom. It was very romantic, and it made the wait for the room worth it.

The room, itself, was very nice. The bed was firm, but very comfortable. There was a fluffy comforter on the bed that was very nice. The floors, as described in other reviews, were marble. The room amenities included a refrigerator (fully stocked with sodas, orange juice, mineral water, bottled water, and Coronas), a flat screen TV, Coffee Maker, DVD player, plush robes and slippers for two, a room safe, ironing board and iron, umbrella (with Dreams logo), blow dryer, clothes hangers, alarm clock, laundry bag, as well as an assortment of toiletries and sunscreen. The view from the room and balcony were beautiful. Overall, we were very pleased with all aspects of the room.

A few more thoughts on the room. We did not see a ‘Tower’ room, but were very please with the Pyramid room that we had. Our room faced the lagoon, and we had a wonderful view. We could see down both sides of Cancun, as well as the lagoon. The view could not be beat. When we go back, we’re going to try to get the same room. Room service was very good. We never waited more than 15 minutes from placing our order, and the presentation was always very nice. We ordered coffee and Danishes every morning, and when it arrived, it was with Noritake China and a yummy selection of Danishes. The shower arrangement is a bit odd, as pointed out by other reviews, but as long as you place a towel down in front of the shower entrance, you won’t have any problems. There was always plentiful hot water, and the water pressure was excellent. The maid staff visited the room at least three times a day. The turn down service was nice, and just as advertised. A rose, the next day’s activity roster, the next day’s weather and chocolates. There was also a mat placed next to the bed, which was embroidered with “Sweet Dreams”. What more could you ask for?

The Staff were very friendly and attentive. I would especially like to mention Miguel at the Snack Shack. He was very open and, with a little prodding, would talk about his personal life. That is, if you could get him to slow down from working to make you feel like you’re in Paradise. There were constantly staff members cleaning and catering to your every need. They were always smiling and cheerful, and seemed to enjoy talking about their homeland, if you could get them to slow down enough. The crew at the building where you check out floats, kayaks, canoes, and snorkeling gear (although contractors and not officially Dreams employees) were very friendly, courteous and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the conversations that I got to have with the wonderful staff members of Dreams. Although our travel agent discouraged tipping, I took some tip money, and thoroughly enjoyed tipping these wonderful hardworking people for the often-thankless jobs that they do to make our vacations seamless and enjoyable.

How about the food? We ate at the Snack Shack, the World Café, the Seaside Grill, and the Oceana. The rest of the restaurants, we cannot comment on. The World Café was our overall favorite. For Breakfast, the selection is astronomical. For lunch and supper, the selection is astronomical. Even the pickiest eater should find something here to satisfy their palate. The selection runs from the most basic hot dog or hamburger, to some pretty frou-frou gourmet selections. The fresh fruit selection for breakfast was a favorite of mine. They even have a Kid’s Corner for those of you with small children. My wife is a shrimp lover. They had a soup at the Oceana, called Shrimp and Vegetable Soup. According to her, it was the ‘absolute best’ soup that she had eaten in her life. I had the fried Grouper, and it was very good. I think ‘absolute best’ is pretty high praise for an all-inclusive. The Seaside grill has a very nice atmosphere and a nice menu. Probably the place to go at Dreams for a steak. I had the Rib eye, and it came covered in brown gravy, which was unexpected. My wife had the bacon wrapped Tenderloin, which I’ve seen reviewed here before. She liked it pretty well. For lunch, the Snack Shack was awesome. If you like a good cheeseburger or hamburger or hotdog, it’s the place to go. The fries were pretty awesome, too. One thing is for sure: you definitely won’t go hungry at Dreams.

A few last thoughts about this awesome resort. Tipping is absolutely discretionary. Not having to wear a wristband is nice. They ask for your room number a lot, but it sure beats having to wear a wristband. The nightly activities are nice, and are more varied than I expected from previous trip reviews. The non-motorized water sports are included, so take advantage of them. Although the place was fully booked, it never seemed crowded. No waits for food, drink, or any services. The Lagoon Side beach is the place to be. Beautiful sand, beautiful water, plenty of bars, plenty of wait staff…..what could be better? Check out was painless and easy and our transportation to the Cancun Airport was right on time.

We will definitely return. I hope this review may be helpful to anyone considering Dreams Resort and Spa. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Dreams Cancun from June 17 thru June 25th and we had a fantastic, relaxing vacation. I read all the reviews on the hotel before going, so I feel obligated to leave my feedback. Something no one else here mentioned was that there were no wristbands, which was a huge plus.

Rooms: We stayed on the 4th floor lagoon side towards the lighthouse in the pyramid buliding. Rather than pay the extra $100 for upgrading our room to a Jr. Suite (not sure what that was), we stuck with our 2 double bed room. It was cozy and I'm glad we didn't upgrade. Beds are on the hard side, but hardly worth complaining about.

Food & Drinks: First, we drank and ate everything at the hotel without getting sick. Breakfast buffet was wonderful, but service was spotty throughout our stay. We ate the most at the Seaside Grill, which offered more mexican food options than other restaurants. If you are looking for chips, salsa and some guacamole with a beer at lunchtime, this place can't be beat. Himitsu was not my favorite, mostly because the sushi rice was very different than what we get in California, but still sushi-like. Their sashimi was fresh and very good, however. All of the restaurants except the World Cafe are outdoors, and I highly suggest you keep bug spray handy to prevent mosquito bites during mealtimes. Even though it only affected us a few times, it was worth coming to dinner prepared (rather than running back to the room to get it). Bars were located centrally and the drinks were nice. We found the lobby bar to be a nice retreat in the afternoon/early evening.

Beaches & Pool: They were working on the pool again while we were there. It was open, but the water level was lower for them to fix some tile. The pool swim up bar was nice, but the beaches are the real draw of this resort. Even on the roughest days, we still found a spot to swim in the ocean. Caribbean side beach was our favorite and you could still find a semi-shady spot by 11 or so.

Weather, Tours & Sightseeing: Yes, it did rain and when it did, the temperature was cooler. We used the cloud cover as an excuse to wander the shopping areas near the hotel. Out of a week, half of the time we had very hot, sunny days. We did Chichen Itza through the hotel and Isla Mujeres by public ferry. Chichen Itza was worthwhile, but it felt that the tour offered through the hotel vendor didn't give us enough free time to explore. They wisk you off to a cenote to swim after the ruins, which was also very fun, but explore other tour options if you just want to see the ruins. If you want a cheap excursion, take a taxi to Puerto Juarez and buy a round trip ticket from the information booth for $7 bucks. Sidestep the tour folks if you don't want to be hassled into dolphin excursions or turtle farm tours.

Spa: We did get a massage and the facilities are very nice. Prices are in line (or a little cheaper) than home. It was a real treat. I definitely recommend it.

Transportation: I booked a car ahead of time and it saved a bit of hassle, despite being a little more pricely than a shuttle. If it's your first time, like it was for me, I recommend getting your transportation to the hotel pre-paid and arranged prior to landing at the airport. It was great to not have to wade through the "time share" folks at the airport.

Overall, other than a few incidents with the front desk and getting our room-safe fixed, it was a stress-free and luxurious vacation. I will definitely go back. Dreams made a perfect, romantic vacation a reality.

This is our first time in Cancun and we had a great time a Dreams. We traveled in a large group of 8 adults and 6 kids. We booked our trip through Orbitz for the deluxe rooms in the pyramid but when we got to the hotel, most of us were automatically upgrade to the tower. We arrived late in the night because we flew with "the airline from heck" Mexicana and was delayed in Mexico City for 6 hours. (We found out that Mexicana routtinely oversold their seats by 60% so even if you arrived at the airport 2 hours before your flight, they still have no seat for you.) By the time we arrived at the hotel, it was 10 pm. I think the reason we got the upgrade was because most people booked for the deluxe room and since we came so late, the hotel had ran out of the basic room and had to give us an upgrade. One of my friends who arrived earlier in the day, and checked in before us did not get the upgrade and ended up in the pyramid. Her room did have the condensation problem that some of the other reviews mentioned. Basically, the whole room is always wet, even if no one is using the shower. I guess it has to do with the AC. On her 3rd day there, they were able to switch her to a room in the tower and her problem was resolved. Overall, the hotel was perpect. Love the swimming pool, the view, the service people, cleanliness, food, drinks. However, it is true that the beach shoreline is rough on your feet. Do bring water shoes and you will be fine. Food wise, we love the world cafe. Oceana got many rave reviews by other people but when we were there we had to wait for over 1 and 1/2 hours for the food to arrive after we placed our order. We were told by the waiter that it was a new menu and the chef was having problem with it. The cocktails are somewhat weak, but you can always ask the bartender of waiter to make it strong and you will get it. The staff is always very accomodating. So with the exception of a few minor details, we had a great time and definitely will come back to dreams. Two advises: one, do not ever fly on Mexicana that required a transfer in Mexico City, especially if you have kids. You might ended up spending the night at the airport with no help whatsoever from the airline and no promise of when you might be called on as a stand-by because the airline always oversold. We spoke to so many travelers who was hanging out at the airport with this problem that we realized we were not the only one. Most of the airport security or workers do not speak English and when the airline makes announcements on the speaker you can barely understand anything they said because they talk so fast and their accents are so heavy. Two, try to check in later on in the day so you might have a better chance of getting a free upgrade. I called the hotel ahead of time to let them know we were stuck in Mexico city and will not be checking in until after 9pm. I let them know that I will be coming and to make sure that I have my rooms when we arrived. When we arrived, I was asked if it is ok if they give me a Master bedroom suit in exchange for 2 deluxe rooms in the pyramid. I agreed and boy, what an upgrade. I ended up in their second best room in the whole hotel. ( The best room would be the 2 master bedroom suit on the top floor). We were on the 16th floor of the tower. There are 17 floors. We had a huge master bedroom, a huge living room, a full size dining room table, 2 balconies on different sides of the hotel with different views of the ocean. We had 2 jazzcuzi, one inside the master bedroom and a huge one outside on the balcony. Since we traveled in a large group with kids, we did make use of room service quite a bit since we have the large dining room table to use. Our kids age range from 5 to 12 and they were sent to kids club a few times. The kids like the kids club and I was comfortable leaving them because the staff are very strict about the kids security. The parents are not allowed to enter the kids club to walk around without one of the staff next to them. I guess they didn't want to leave any chance for any of the kids to be exposed to the risk of kidnapping, etc. So, bottomline, my whole family love this hotel and will come back again even if we will not get the free upgrade.

This was our first time to Cancun and our second all inclusive (our first all-inclusive was pretty bad and very pricey). We went with basically no expectations, just advice and opinions we read from this site. My husband and I were completely impressed with the room , food, service and resort cleanliness. Our room could have been cooler at times but we were never uncomfortable. The tips that came in handy for us:

1) Ask for a mattress pad (makes the hard bed much more comfy)
2) Seaside Grille, if you're not dining with children, is easily the best service and food for dinner (try to sit in Carlos' section, he's the best server we have ever had).
3) Take some $1's for tipping at the poolside/beach, you'll never have an empty glass and they will remember what you like. (Same goes for dinner if you like you server)
4) The beach at the Tower's was much bigger and the loungers and straw hut's more available. (we didn't stay in the Tower but used the beach with no problem)

You absolutely do not have to tip anyone to get great service, but they certainly go out of their way to accomodate your every need if you give your server a couple bucks.

If I had to find a complaint (and I mean "had to") it would be the service at the Oceana (for dinner). Dinner service was somewhat slow and "less eager to please", but the food was excellent. I'm sure some people will find fault with the manager's at the Seaside Grille because they will not seat you in the uncovered sections of the restaurant if it's going to storm, even if you argue and act like an idiot with your group of 8 obnoxious people (if you are reading this you know who you are). They will, however, offer you inside seating next door until a table is available. (same goes for the Oceana, but that restaurant is quite a bit bigger)

If you want to get away from the crowd's in the evening the Dream's Club (lounge at the Tower's) was wonderful outside, with plenty of breeze and awesome service from our favorite bartender, Julio.

If you want to be pampered, the Spa is unbelievable! It is absolutely gorgeous and my massage was wonderful! Steam room and sauna were very quiet and relaxing too.

We truly had a great experience, from the moment we stepped onto the resort until we landed back in the states. I would recommend this trip to anyone, it was comparible to any 5 star cruise I have taken and I am looking forward to our next trip to Dreams Resort.
