My husband and I just returned from staying at this wonderful hotel. We were there from May 23 through May 28th. We weren’t disappointed from the moment that we stepped on the grounds.
Even though we were not greeted with the champagne and warm towels our welcome was just as pleasant. We arrived prior to check in so unfortunately our room was not available but we were able to get in pretty quickly. We spent the first 3 evenings in "The Pyramid" with an ocean view. It was perfect. From our room we had a clear view of the dolphins, pools, beaches, bars and sunsets. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. Thanks for the great tip about putting down a towel in the bathroom (no big deal). This is definitely the party side. From there we were upgraded to the Tower for the last 2 nights. The view of the Ocean was just as awesome. This side of the resort is much quieter. There is no pool bar on this side but the service was great. If you are interest in having a destination wedding they do a great job. There was at least one a day, but each was unique. They serve a great breakfast buffet and tea time. It is my opinion however, that this was not the newer side of the resort.
The grounds were immaculate and groomed every day. I did not smell any type of sewerage as previously mentioned and I stayed right over the "lagoon" so I'm not sure where that came from. The pool was not as lavish as other hotels; however, there was plenty of room for everyone. To tell you the truth, even though we are not really beach people we seemed the most comfortable there with the grass top umbrellas and the cool ocean breeze so this is a great option. The water at the beach is very shallow and warm so we didn't miss the pool at all. And talk about service. The waiters came around constantly asking if you wanted anything be it water, food, cocktails or anything else to make you comfortable. Another great tip is to bring plenty of singles for tips, they well deserve it.
Now finally for the food and drinks.
Drinks – They did not cheap out here. We are not big drinkers so they kind of made their money back on us. However, whatever we wanted was there. Everything was top of the line. They even had my favorite after dinner drink, Grand Manier.
Seaside Grill – Hands down our favorite. Luis is one of the waiters and he is great. Although he is usually running around like crazy he never slows down on the service. The rib eye tacos and chipotle chicken at lunch are delicious and the dinners are even better. One piece of advice take a sweater with you at dinner. The waives create a strong wind.
Oceana – We loved this restaurant. We had lunch and dinner there since it is right next to the beach. They mostly serve seafood, however, don’t be afraid to try the filet mignon there (terrific)!
World Café – Breakfast, lunch and dinner all sooooo good. We loved the taquitos at breakfast and I must confess that our favorite was the ice cream after a good dinner.
I could go on and on however, I think you get the idea. I can’t wait to go back to take my children. They would love it just as much. Have a blast!!!
