We travel to Cancun every year just for the beach, and here you will find it very beautiful you can swim in the water without getting cut by rock and the waves are more gentle. Upgrade to the Beach Club with Ocean front view you will not be disappointed the rooms are very nice and also breakfast and happy hour is included in the price.

My sister and I spent five nights in the Westin (5/22/09-5/26/09) and found it to be a lovely hotel. We stayed in the Royal Beach Club, room 2515. The room was on the 5th floor and had an ocean view. The Westin isn't a Four Seasons or one of the more spectacular Aman resorts but it is quite nice and I would happily return.

Our views were beautiful, the room was very nice and of course the Westin Beds are wonderfully comfortable. The Royal Beach Club offers guests breakfast and a cocktail party from 5:30pm-7:30pm The breakfast buffet was large, well run and had something for everyone. The evening cocktails and snacks were readily available but the food was essentially junk (fried snacks, nachos, etc). The Sea and Stones restaurant was quite good and a bit of fun as you can cook your food on a hot stone.

This was my third trip to Cancun and the only time I have actually enjoyed my stay. I attribute my enjoyable trip to the Westin and its secluded location.

My husband and I have stayed at the Westin Cancun five times since 2003. We missed one year when everything was closed because of the hurricane and one year when we decided to try another hotel.

We made our reservations for our March 2009 vacation on July 3, 2008. We used American Express travel because of the good deal we could get using our AMEX points, although we are Starwood members.

When I made the reservation, in July, 2008!! I contacted the hotel directly requesting a king size bed. They said they would put in the request - but that they couldn't guarantee it. We had several emails concerning this. When we arrived we found out we were in a room with two double beds. I was very upset, although I did try to be nice about itm but I was told they were full, when I asked if there was something maybe later in the week they said no. If they had put this request in when I made it in July (8 months earlier) it seems to me there should have been one at that time.

We had the feeling that had we book through Starwood we wouldn't have had this problem. I can't believe they were totally book before July 3, 2008 for March 21, 2009. If they don't respect requests from other booking agents they should let people know.

We have always loved the Westin Cancun and I have many times written glowing reviews about it, but this year I felt the service was very much lacking. The people at the front desk were when we checked in were not helpful --- they appeared to want us out of there. It did appeared that although the hotel was full they hadn't prepared for it and were very short staffed all around. We almost always had to wait a long time for any kind of service. The beach wait staff were run ragged but even so they did always try to be pleasant.

As I mentioned, we love the Westin Cancun. We have come to know many of the wait staff and look forward to seeing them again each year. However, after this past visit we aren't sure there will be another year at the Westin.

Would I recommend this to a friend--probably but only if they were to book directly with the Westin.

We arrived and were picked up at the airport in a timely manner. The check in took a little while-tried to get us to do a breakfast time share meeting, didn't want to take no for an answer but finally left us alone. We asked for a beach front---didn't get it. Asked if we could change ,didn't happen.We were diappointed because we reserved months in advance. The room was in okay shape-kichenette had some to be desired, but functional.The service was good, they were pretty friendly. Didn't eat at the resturant. Beach was great, pools were good. Our bathroom sink leaked and flooded, but they cleaned it up quickly and fixed it...slower leak. The light fixture by side of bed shocked me once. The hotel is nice, just needs a little fixing up or updated. Liked the Weston hotel next to it better. Had a great time in Cancun!!!!
