I would have to say that I was quite afraid of what to expect, being my wife and I's first trip outside of the United States. We picked Cancun because we have always heard good things about it. We looked at pictures online of different places and decided to stay her. So, we searched through Travelocity and found the Westin and decided to give it a try. I would have to say that this was an excellent hotel. The staff was EXTREMELY friendly and courteous. We didn't really get hammered with any timeshare non-sense either. We did meet with the hotel lady about it, but she wasn't over bearing like most places would normally be. She had asked what we were here for and we told her for our honey moon that we were newly weds. Immediately she congratulated us and advised user that there would be something special left for us when we went out that evening, that we would receive when we returned. When we came back to our hotel later that evening after having dinner, we walked into our room and found a bottle of champagne, a plate with chocolate drizzle, chocolate covered strawberries, pieces of white chocolate, and the plate itself was decorated in like a design with chocolate and stuff. We thought surely after we enjoyed it that we would get billed for it. We figured that it was just some type of a scam for them to get 50 bucks out of us or something. But, surprisingly enough, there was none.
The view from the hotel is stunning, my jaw dropped whenever we walked to our room and seen the view over the ocean. The hotel itself is clean and nice as well. It is the closest hotel to the airport, but the furthest from the attractions like shopping and everything. But, you can take a cap or you can even take the bus for 25 cents per ride. It is well worth it. It is far away enough that you can peace and quiet and can relax and enjoy everything at the same time. The hotel has a buffet breakfast you can pay for, or you can eat a single plate. The waiters are nothing like our lives back here in the United States. They cater to you and make sure you have everything you want and need. It was an excellent experience, I would recommend this hotel to anyone and Cancun in general.
