I have been to the Cancun Club Med and have enjoyed it tremendously. I like the adult-only atmosphere and so have some of the other reviewers. As most of you know the Club is closed due to the storm. It is reopening in November but it will no longer be adult-only. Please understand, I have nothing against families and there are plenty of CMs that take families. I just enjoy an adult-only CM. As the one review said-no rolls flying from high chairs.

My husband and I visited Club Med Cancun for our honeymoon in May. We did not know much about it, just that we got a discount through my husband's employer.

At first glance it was georgous, two types of beaches, tons of property and friendly people at the front desk. They gave us a cool drink which was heaven after our long trip (beware of Spirit Air!....we waited in the terminal for 3 hours before we could start our vacation). The first room they took us to was lovely....except a couple was already staying there. The second room was on the lagoon and we loved it...except the air conditioning, which for all it's noise, did not work. We would take cold showers every hour or so when staying in the room. It was too hot to even look at eachother in the room....which is not what you want on a honeymoon. Halfway through the trip we were moved again to a room with working AC.

The drinks were awesome and they kept on coming! You have to try the rainbow colata, we drank a ton. I liked the food....lots of variety. My husband likes burgers and pizza....so he wasn't too happy, but that's his fault. Dinner at La Palapa was amazing....but we were only able to get reservations one night, which was sad. One of our favorite parts was the snack bar. We were always up at odd hours and went there to have burgers on the beach. Never very crowded there and a nice romantic view on the ocean.

The activities were ok. They were kind of hindered by a jellyfish invasion mid-week. Windsurfing was not fun. The instructors spent about 5 minutes with us and then left us tied to a rock with giant windsurfing boards. After falling down for about an hour we had had enough. Tennis lessons were great...however the beginner lessons were pretty much in the heat of the day. Snorkling was completely amazing. The fish are so cool.

Now that brings us to the social atmosphere..... For the first couple of days we just assumed people were super friendly because they were on vacation. Then we started getting suspicious. We still can't prove that it is a swingers club, but that's the impression we got. We had to try pretty hard to be alone on our honeymoon. That's all I will say about that. Oh wait one more thing....really raunchy foam parties....what is that about????

Ahhh, I guess it all comes down to: it is what you make of it. We still had a great time and will have something to laugh about for years to come. It was a great little oasis from the rest of cancun. It's not a romantic atmosphere, and your room isint the most comfortable place. However, those people that came in giant groups of singles had a rip roarin' great time. So hey if you're single...or that "special" kind of couple...this is your place!

It was with some trepidation that I began a vacation to the all-inclusive Club Med. I expected it to be full of 20 somethings, drinking themselves silly every night. Boy was I wrong. The guests covered all ages, except there were no kids, which was wonderful. A whole week without kids running around and getting into everything.

My husband and I are vegetarians and expected to have problems with the food, but each night the selection was incredible. We ate far more than we should but there was so much great food to try. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. We loved all the activities, water-skiing before breakfast, then sailing afterwards, a bit of tennis, and snorkeling to fill the day.

La Palapa, the full-service restaurant, is lovely. The bar outside is a perfect place to spend a leisurely evening, chatting with new friends and watching the sunset. I loved every minute and I am fussy. I work for a large entertainment complex and am accustomed to high quality resorts.

Cancun is definitely not the place for me, we only went into Cancun once and it was a waste of time. There is no need to venture outside of Club Med. Enjoy!

After spending 3 hours reading the reviews before booking my trip to Club Medm Cancun, I decided to give them a try. I had stayed in Turks with awesome results!

I arrived four hours late due to my carrier, USAir, as usual. Being late and stressed out, I could not wait to get through the maze of scammers at the airport. Walking out of the terminal, I see that White and Blue sign that tells me I am home!

The driver grabs my bags and opens the door to the air conditioned van. I am then speed off to the resort, 20 minutes away for $25 dollars. My friend that I was meeting was charged $75 by a rouge taxi. (Always look for the Club Med Driver)

After a quick and stree-free drive to the resort, I am greeted by the GM's. So nice and understanding. The driver removes my bags and gently places them on the curb for the bell-hop to take to my room. I check in, no problems and directed to my georgous room.

My room faced the Lagoon, not to bad for $69 a night! The room did have a funny smell, but was very clean and most important to me, very cool. The air conditioning was kicking butt! I got used to the smell, was not bad, just different. No mold, I looked all over, concrete walls and floors so it had no place to hide. I cannot place the smell, just differnet!

As for the staff, 95% were the most polite, eager and professional staff I have meet at a club med. A few (5) of the staff had a little attitude, but they have to deal with the French so I understand!

The food is Club Med, it all taste's the same. Their is just so much to eat, and the sea food was amazing too! One positive point of the food was the desserts, amazing!

All I can say negative about the trip was, too short!

If you are a diver, Planet Scuba International is who runs the SCUBA center. Once again, not one problem. The master divers, boat captain and support staff are one of the BEST that I have ever delt with anywhere in the world. One thing, to save on your dives, prebook them, you will save about half, here's the link: [-]

So in closing, Club Med Cancun Rocks, no problem, just the French!

We've stayed at 5 other Club Med's so we're fans of the Club Med concept. Club Med's attempt at upgrading amenities is immediately noticeable, especially in the rooms. Recent property upgrades are fantastic! Village has been painted top to bottom, all rooms have been remodeled and are great! The only difference in accommodation price is location - they all have same layout, decor and amenities.

Club Med definitely has the best location in Cancun with the lagoon for waterskiing and Cancun's premier snorkeling reef just off Club Med's beach. Cancun's beaches are eroding so enjoy Club Med's nice protected beaches while they last. The sports equipment is in top shape and lots of activities are offered at this spread-out village.

Club Med offers a wonderful 1 day trip to Chitchen Itza including a stop at their archeological villa for lunch and a swim in the lush hacienda's pool, as well as an escorted guide throughout the ruins and a stop at the colonial town of Villadolid on the return. The motorcoach is comfy and is exclusively for Club Med guests (leaving directly from Club Med's reception desk with no other hotel stops) and you're back by 6:30 in time for dinner.

The food is good - lots of varieties at the buffets and a convient self-serve ice cold Corona Keg. The shows are excellent. You'll think you're paying $100 to see Cirque du Soleil when you see the circus' team's Fallen Angel show. It's unbelievably superb.

The only complaint....is that the GO staff is not as engaging as other villages. We never saw Marco, the Chef d'Village, someone who tends to set the tone for the GO staff. At Turks & Caravelle, the windsurfing staff stayed on the water, windsurfing. They reached out to guests, luring them into trying the sport. Cancun's staff sat around a table reading magazines, smoking and chatting among themselves. The discouraged new comers to the sport and we never saw them windsurfing! Very strange. This cool attitude popped up in other GO teams as well, leaving the overall feeling lukewarm at best. BUT, you can shrug it off and make your own fun! I just want to advise 1st time Club Med visitors that this is not typical of the Club Med atmosphere.

Having all drinks included makes this a real value. The no kids policy is also a nice plus (no rolls flying from high chairs in the dining room). Overall a wonderful vacation. The village has been chartered by a private company from October to the middle of December, but take advantage of their recent remodeling and enjoy this village in the winter!
