My new husband and I were at the Hilton for 3 days in April for part of our honeymoon. It is extravagent. We don't have a lot of money, but wanted a luxurious honeymoon - and we can proudly say that's very possible! We payed big for the Hilton, which meant skimping on other things, but it was well worth it!

We loved our room (see pics) - especially the view! We ate breakfast in our robes on our patio every morning and it was glorious.
The beach is gorgeous (see pics), but beware of the waves if you go into deeper water.

The pool is spectacular (see pics) - all connected by cascades and little walkways. Swim-up Palapa bar and an infinity pool - very pretty!

To save money, we were VERY glad we had brought our own bottled water and juice - the prices in the room were horrendous! We also never ate at the hotel restaurants because of the expense, but the food looked and smelled good.

We walked down to the street and took the bus to restaurants every evening. They run 24/7 and are about .60 cents a person - way cheaper then any Taxi. Also to save money, we took the bus downtown (past the hotel zone) to where the big super market is. We bought food for breakfast (go to the bakery section and buy unique fresh baked rolls), beach picnic lunches (PB & J), and snacks there for 3 days - all for about $20 US. Can't beat that! While we were downtown shopping, we also checked out prices for an excursion to Xel-Ha. We went back and forth between 3 different booths, and finally got one guy so low that the other people said it was a good deal and we should take it.

Xel-Ha (see pics) is a one-of-a-kind natural aquarium. It is tons of fun and well worth the cost. You can usually get there cheaper buy taking a "Collectivo" (white vans). At Xel-Ha we did the all-inclusive option (splurged for this) – which was nice because we could eat what ever, when ever. To really enjoy the snorkeling there though, you have to go where the fish are (which is by the feeding places), other wise it gets old fast because, unfortunately, most of the coral is destroyed from years of destructive tourists. Snorkel up the river along the edges and you'll find some pretty sea life and caves. Cliff jumping along the river is fun, too, and tubing down the river is very relaxing.

All in all, we loved our time in Cancun. The Hilton is not a party hotel, and it's away from the clubs and "action," so go somewhere else if you're looking for that. Have fun in Mexico!

we stayed at the hilton. we had a standard room and i can't say enough about it. clean, the views were breath taking. very pleased.we stayed in rm. 646 and would request the same room again.
due to circulation problems(swollen ankles) we sampled all restaurants at the hotel. we enjoyed the restaurant facing the beach(fish) and the pasta and pizza restaurant(ask for jacobo) he makes your dining special. we did not enjoy spices(dinner)they have a taco buffet and that was the worst dinner we had , all other meals were acceptable .
i would like to see a little more variety on the menu .
only minor problems but when your on vacation , you'd like to say you had not one problem. right ?
the swim up bar was frustrating, it seemed like the bartenders always had something better to do than wait on customers.
i think they could use more wait staff around the pool ,we had a little wait for our drinks but the staff around the pool were nice and cheerful.
the pool tables and lounge chairs could be a bit cleaner........it was a pretty quiet pool and beach area , we were quite pleased about that. the lobby was impressive ,they had a small bar off to the side , i would have liked to have seen a quiet lounge instead of the main hub of the hotel. we laughed at the piano man as everytime we walked by , he was playing the same song.
we would re-visit this hotel but we will be trying another hotel next time back.

Spent countless hours researching hotels before I decided on this one. My husband, daughter(12) and I were more than pleased with our stay. We enjoyed 9 nights in a villa room. I agree that the beds are incredibly comfortable, a slight drawback if trying to get up at a reasonable hour. No matter what time we went to the pool, there was plenty of space in the sun or shade. It never felt crowded, but I think it is mostly due to the spacious layout and numerous pools. The grounds are immaculate and the layout of the pools is gorgeous. We had a garden view villa, second floor, and could see the ocean over the pools and trees. The spa is lovely and peaceful. The sports massage was ok, but the atmosphere and the outdoor secluded jacuzzi in the spa made up for it. The villa rooms included breakfast, snacks, and early evening cocktails etc.- very convenient. The setting was lovely, one could sit indoors or on the patio overlooking the pool/ocean. The " continental breakfast" was more than ample. The hotel staff were helpful, pleasant, and responsive. I wasn't aware of unsupervised children while there. The resort is in a good location, outside of the chaos of the downtown area, but close enough by bus. We took the bus regularly; it was very good (and my husband, a nonexperimental eater, always found something on the menu).
We used the entertainment-plus card several times for 2/1 meals. I think it is worthwhile for the restaurant and tour discounts and advice. Enjoyed the dolphin swim at Parc Nizuc (also a water park). It was an expensive day, the park was ok, not at all crowded. The food there was mediocre at best.
We took a day trip to Chichen-Itza, Ik Balam and the cenotes. Although very hot, it was a worthwile time. There are local vendors at the ruins and the prices are more favourable than those in Cancun. Overall Cancun and especially this hotel, exceeded our expectations. The weather was fabulous, the hotel atmosphere was very relaxed, the staff unobtrusive but attentive. My husband played golf twice and was happy with it. The pools were spectacular and warm. The ocean was turquoise and also warm. There was always a comfortable breeze. I do think there may be a more relaxed atmosphere at a resort that is not all-inclusive. We would not hesitate to return. Looked over the JW Marriott pool area and though it was pretty, it also looked quite formal in layout and not as spacious.

I stayed for two days at the Hilton and two days at the JW Marriott during the week of April 18-22. My wife and I went for our honeymoon and we stayed at the Villas at the Hilton for the first two days. Our villa was RIGHT on the ocean and the room was wonderful with a little patio where we could sit and watch the ocean unobstructed. The shower was showing a little bit of age and could have been cleaner, but besides that I had no complaint with the room at all. The other nice thing about the Villas at the Hilton is the complimentary hot buffet breakfast every morning (which regular hotel members don't have) and free snacks and appetizers all day long, including drinks (even alcohol during the evening Happy Hour)!

As reported by other people, the beach is not great for swimming (there are huge rocks that the current swept me into) but all the beaches in Cancun are public, so if you want to swim, you can go elsewhere. But if you want to relax and just take in the ocean, you can't go wrong with the Villas. Our room at the JW was over $100 more per night, and slightly nicer, and with a better spa, but with not nearly as nice of a view. The pools are nicer at JW also. Foodwise, the restaurants at the Hilton are just like everywhere - some good, some bad. The Japanese restaurant is right on the beach and very nice. If and when I go back to Cancun, I will definitely stay at the Hilton villas again.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The pool was great, the beach was clean, the room was awesome, the service was very good. We took the bus to the other hotels for trying out their restaurants, and found that we had made the right decision of staying at the Hilton. The tripadvisor ranking of this hotel is absolutely accurate.

Hilton has lots of space near the pools & many palapas to provide a full day of fun at the beach/pool. They also have lots of hammocks & coconut trees. The lobby is big and nice. Mitachi is a romantic place to enjoy lovely seafood and live music (highly recommend this place).

Thanks to all at tripadvisor. I am glad I made the right decisions and wisely planned my vacation.
