This hotel was a wonderful delight to stay at. Myself, DH and another couple that we usually travel with stayed at the Hilton for 6 nights. We were to initially stay at the Avalon Grand, but after reading reviews here on tripadvisor, and seeing some pictures we booked the Hilton. Seeing it was in the top ten on this site, we were excited to be staying at the Hilton. We got a great internet deal on the villas from the Hilton's website, and couldn't wait for our trip to Cancun. Well this hotel was wonderful; beautiful grounds, great customer service and pretty good food. Although we only actually ate dinner there a couple of nights. The staff there was very accomodating, and friendly. All of the villas have a wonderful view of the grounds and the ocean. If you stay in the villas there is a free continental breakfast, hors d’oeuvres in the after noon, snacks and free drinks in the evening until 7:00p.m. We took advantage of each hour they offer anything free. The beds were wonderful and hard to get out of them. If you like "spaaing" you will like the one here, beautiful and relaxing. My DH went several times for a massage. We love Cancun! We wanted to stay a few extra days, so we did. After I change all of our airline tics, the hotel did not have any more room for us, so we had to leave the Hilton regretfully. The staff tried very hard to work with us, but nothing was available. They even called a few hotels for us to find space. We end up staying at the Fiesta American Coral Beach. Nice, but it did not compare to the Hilton in our opinion. Stay at the Hilton you will not be disappointed.

If you are thinking of going to Cancun and really enjoy it, stay at the Hilton Villas. My boyfriend and I stayed there from May 3 through May 9 and we can’t wait to go back again. We had a Villa facing the beach (1002) … it was the best! We would sit on the patio overlooking the ocean and just relax for hours there….our villa was one of the closes to the ocean. The views were spectacular from our room and as everyone has mentioned their beds are unbelievably comfortable. The service at the Villa’s Concierge was world class. All of their staff there is trained to give you the best service and they enjoy doing so. The staff found out we were there on a celebration and they sent us a bottle of champagne as a compliment without either one of us asking or mentioning it to them.. I think they just overheard us ...

As mentioned before, continental breakfast is included and it is more than enough to satisfy your morning appetite. Then during the day there are always snacks prepared by the chefs from the on-site restaurants and drinks. Finally from 5-7 there is a Happy Hour at the main villa where all the beers, mix drinks and food are included for Villa guests.

No matter what time we went to the pool, there was plenty of space in the sun or shade. It never felt crowded, but I think it is because we chose to go to Cancun during the low season.

The resort is in a great location on the South of the Cancun Island. It is close enough to the center of entertainment (discos, night clubs, bars, shopping, etc) by the local buses but yet apart enough to give you the peace and serenity of a separate resort. Buses are only 6.5 Pesos (approx. 60 Cents USD).

FOOD

We ate at the local Kiosko Restaurant (side of the pools)– They had good food (great Nachos with Beef, Seafood cocktail, etc) We tried a lot of their menu items and were always satisfied. Yes it is a little bit pricier that you are used to pay but it is worth it. I think we had lunch there almost every day since we wanted to stay close to the beach and the pools…

Other restaurant that we highly recommend:
LA DESTILERIA – They serve the best original and typical Mexican food in Cancun and their service is excellent. This place offers you the best opportunity to experience true Mexican cuisine.

TOURS / DAY TRIPS:

Jungle Tour – We took this trip and it was great. We decided to book it while there at the Hilton hotel. We used Aquaworld (they have representatives at the hotel) and it was the perfect day trip for snorkeling at the beginners level. It lasts about 3 1/2 hours so you still have time left during the day for other activities. You drive a Jet sky for about 1 hour until you arrive at a Black Coral Reef area and then you snorkel for another 45 minutes or so and then drive back o the Jet Sky. It is so convenient because you don't "waste" any time commuting from hotel to the tour place and back.

Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins- We rented a car (best decision - even though I was worried at first) and we had a wonderful time. It takes 2 hours drive to the Chichen Itza on the Toll Road but it is worth the travel time! And if you rent a car, it gives you the freedom to return whenever you decide (contrary to waiting on the Tour Bus). If you rent a car, just make sure you follow the speed limits…. you will be fine – trust me!

If you get hungry, as you exit the park, drive to your left (into the small town) and in less than 3 minutes you will see on your right a restaurant called La Casa del Mayab. They have a 6 dlls. buffet that is exceptional – better than many other expensive restaurants in Cancun!

Overall Cancun and especially this hotel, exceeded our expectations. The weather was fabulous, the hotel atmosphere was very relaxed, the staff unobtrusive but attentive.

The pools were spectacular and warm. The ocean was a bright turquoise and also warm. There was always a comfortable breeze although the temperature when we went was approx 90 degrees F. Also don’t believe the weather forecasts from the internet…. it was predicted that it would rain almost every day when we were there and only one day for a short period of time did it rain (very lightly).

Before we left we were already planning on when we will be back. We would not hesitate to return to the Hilton.

My husband and I stayed there 4 nites in April 2005, having stayed at the Marriott Casa Magna 2 years ago. We upgraded to the Villas after reading the reviews here and were not impressed. We had a ground floor villa and the bathroom had a steady stream of ants. I am sure the view from the high rise was stunning compared to the view of the garden and small view of ocean. Although the continental breakfast was nice, we felt "compelled" to eat there every day because we paid the extra $40 per night. Same thing for lunch--we ate the rolled up lunch meat they set out for "snacks" most days because we had paid extra. We found that they were chintzy by not replacing the food--for example, if you arrived 1/2 hour before breakfast, there was nothing left and they did NOT bring out more. I also could not understand why they stocked sodas but NO WATER in the concierge room. I also could not find any water at the gift shop. I spent most of the trip thirsty because sodas and mixed drinks, beer were my primary liquids.
I also spent $90 at the spa for the poorest pedicure and manicure I've ever had. I was sorely disappointed with the spa in general, compared to the other spas I've been to--no amenities whatsoever were offered--robes, slippers, cool drink, which is standard.
After staying there, I can't understand why this hotel is ranked so highly and especially why it is ranked higher than the Casa Magna, which had much more luxurious accomodations and impeccable service that has made us Marriott people. The only thing that this Hilton had that surpassed the Marriott was its extensive pools and grounds, which are nice. We only stayed at the Hilton because the Casa Magna was booked. If we return again, we will do it when we can go back to the Marriott.

Just got back from the Hilton in Cancun and felt I should write since I relied heavily on tripadvisor to select my hotel.

I would give the Hilton a 4 out of 5 stars. Overall my husband and I were very happy with our stay. We booked through American Airlines Vacations and belong to Hilton Honors. We were checked in by the Honors desk and were told at 2:00 that they do not have check in until 3:00, but will not have a room ready until 4:00. I kind of expected there might be delays, so we said, "no problem, we will get some lunch"...and they provided us with some tickets for 2 free drinks. We booked a room with a balcony...I did ask for an odd numbered room, at the suggestion of people on this site, and it is the better view! Thanks!

The positives:
clean rooms, comfortable beds, great view (ocean, pool, and could see some of the golf course), good food (especially the breakfast. Mexican breakfast is like brunch for us. Very authentic quesadillas and breads...my husband is Mexican and when you move to a new country you miss the food you grew up with, so we really appreciated this, although most of Cancun is Americanized food). Pool water was perfect temp and we could always find a chair in the shade or the sun by the pool or the beach and a hammock to lie in. The gym had the basics and was included with our stay. AND, as a side note the beds had a sheet on the bed, a sheet under the blanket, AND a sheet over the blanket before the bedspread (that's 3 sheets on your bed). In case you don't know it is how every hotel should do it. I don't know Mexican law, but in the U.S. for the most part, blankets only need to be cleaned once every 3 MONTHS, so it is supposed to be sandwiched between sheets, which are cleaned for each guest.

Negatives:
the hotel is starting to show some wear and tear. The pool and the pool deck need to be resurfaced, and the cushions on the lounge chairs are a little worn too. Also, I had a couple of bath towels that were falling apart at the edges and one of our robes was torn at the seem from the bottom of the robe up the side about 18 inches...if the pool is renovated and they throw out the towels that are falling apart, I would easily upgrade this to a 5 star hotel, if it is not renovated in a year or so it might go down to a 3.5 from additional wear, but I am a tough customer...for me 5 stars means a hotel well EXCEEDS my expectations.

Overall if the nit-picky negatives I wrote will drive you crazy don't stay here, but if they are no big deal to you (they really did not affect our stay in a negative way) then I recommend this hotel.

The Hilton Cancun is everything you would hope for and more. Stayed 8 nights in a 6th floor ocean/pool view room. Super clean and updated room. Customer Service second to none, and the pool and grounds were super clean and well kept. I cannot say too many good things about the staff, they are incredible. I had a bad experience on my last visit to Mexico with hotel and staff, but the Hilton crew has completely won me back over to vacationing in Mexico again. We had no problem with getting chairs or Pallapps at the pool, I am not sure why people complain about that. The Swim up bar and the El KiskoKO pool side cafe are excellent. We also planned a couple of day trips through the staff at the pool side stands and they were very helpful. We will be coming back next year for sure. If you want a relaxing stay in a top notch hotel, Hilton Cancun is for you.

The only negative thing I have to say about the resort is about the golf course. It needs help as the fairways and greens were in dire need of some TLC. But we still had a great round with the Alligators watching!!
